It wasn't missed. It has nothing to do with MD. Akatosh closed all MD's Gates, and protects Tamriel from Oblivion.GrimHarvest wrote:With regards to the Oblivion threat debate, when Martatosh defeats Mehrunes and shuts down all the gates he misses one. Its on a small island just outside Bravil...
Tamriel may be saved from Mehrunes part of Oblivion but the other daedric gods still have access it seems.
Sorry for sticking my neb in there.
The Island portal appeared (if you have the Shivering Isles Expansion), shortly after you exited from the first dungeon, or at any time thereafter that you install the expansion. It is not access to Tamriel, but acces to The Shivering Isles.
The SI god doesn't have access to Tamriel. He seems to have special permission to make the portal, but only for people to enter 'if they wish to'. And only people who have gone in can come out. Nothing else. Different kettle of fish altogether.

It was Martin, with the power of the shattered amulet mixed with his own blood that defeated MD and shut the gates to MD's realm, not Akatosh. See the ending here.
The only assurence that we have is from Maritn that the gates were closed forever. That doesn't preclude the possibility that ways can be found to open new ones. Indeed as has been stated before, other gates to Oblivion still exist, and/or are created after the defeat of MD, something you seem determined to ignore for some reason Fljotsdale.
The fact that martin gave his life, evn if he was wrong, is praiseworthy, more so than the protagonist IMHO, but the future has yet to be written. When it is it will be Marin that's remembered not his gopher, and let's face it that is exactly what the protagonist in Oblivion is, a pretty darned good one, but not the one who overthrew MD, that was Martin. Shame about the fact he was dreadfully voiced by a poor actor though.

Good Morning, Forum!
#00: Thanks, Galraen, for the video link!
I've never seen it played out properly on any of my computers. It seems to partly lock up on a segment and carry that part through the segue into the next scene, and so one for each segment. So now I know what I've been missing out on!
#01: Your comment about Sean Bean... Bah humbug!
He sounded just fine as far as I'm concerned.
#02: As far as the gates issue though..... Unless the deities in question are into trespassing through each other's realms, or sharing, I think that what Fljotsdale's point is, is that one deity's portal is not the property of another's, so the fact that other deities have their own portals is moot. So Mehrune Dagon's threat was the only one that counts, when answering the question about future threats from M.D.'s realm. Threats from the realms of other deities, is a seperate matter, not to be tossed in with this one. Right?
#03: As for me, I can see how the matter might be confusing. When doing the "Tournament of Ten Bloods", it appears to take place in the same realm as when one is closing the Oblivion Gates. Ditto, when saving those lost souls in the other. Hence why some people seem to tend to want to lump them all together as being one and the same. However, Sheogorath's & Jyggalig's (Sp.?) realms don't look like Oblivion at all. Hence why it may be said that each Daedric Prince's realm isn't necessarily the same as Dagon's realm. As the fourth game in the series, is the only one that I've played, I don't know who is going to be right when the fifth one is released. So I'm neutral on this.:mischief:
