im stuck in asyum without a wooden stake, should i go back to mainland or is there stakes in asylum. hopefully staking dace is quick and clean. any help is appreciated.

I think there are some stakes in Asylum. Actually, in BG2, if you're in a place where you need stakes, they will be somewhere nearby 100% guaranteed.

There is a stake at the giant amethyst guarded by Kobolds.
