Fire Giants

Post by DARK SAGE »

Hi. I've reached the bit in the game where I have to kill the Fire Giant King. Basically I've spoken to the Dragon and agreed to help her fight the giants. She says she'll meet me there but she's not around when I enter the King's camp.
Have I missed a step or is this just a glich?

I'm not sure, but I think she'll join you (if she joins at all) when you attack the giants.

The way I do it is to make the deal with the dragon first, then go to the Fire Giants lair. After talking with the king about the belt of Ironfirst, talk about the dragon. Agree to fight the dragon and about that point in the conversation, the dragon should appear. At this point, you should have three options to either attack the dragon, attack the giants, or attack both. Choose to attack the dragon. The dragon is much harder to kill than the giants, and they will help you kill her. Once she's dead, you'll either talk to the king, in which he'll say you didn't fight very well and attack you, or they'll just attack you outright. They should be damaged from the fight with the dragon and therefore, not as difficult to take out.

One trap to avoid, after you kill the dragon, lead the king away from her body. I once killed him and he fell on the dead dragon. Because of this, I could not click on his body to get the Ironfirst belt. Instead, I could only click on the dragon.

the latter remark sounds intriguing, and quite mood-breaking to be sure.

was there no way to actually wait for the wyrm remains to disappear?

No, it's one of those dead bodies that doesn't disappear.

Though it is far more fun to attack both at once... so long as you chose the right party for it!

The option that always worked best for me was to side with the dragon first. Together we usually made mince meat of the giants quite easily... of course like the gentleman i am, i'd let her tank all the damage. Once she turns on me, the resulting fight was somewhat easy.

When I did it I just killed the Giants with a lot of buffs etc and then killed the dragon later with IGMS.
