I'm really beginning to wonder about the wisdom of saying that some gamers should get out more..... :D

Yep! I have to say... I really do not get "live action roleplayers"...
It are people like this who help give D&D a bad name :D

Now - I might be damaged by my environment and the media (not my fault of course) - but why did I expect it to blow up and remove his arm? :mischief:

Reminds me of this one though:
YouTube - Turn Off Your Phone - TDC Mobil

Was a commercial for turning off the cell when in the cinema

I expected him to invoke the devil! :D
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Frankly, I'm surprised by the reactions of some of the gamers here. Okay, so the guy in the video enjoys playing live-action RPGs. Sure, why not. I really don't see anything wrong with it. Not in itself, anyway. There might be other things in his life--or lacking in his life--that we might question, but my interest in how other people spend their time only goes so far.

But anyway, what bugs me is this. He announced that he was about to start the "final battle", and then he proceeded to use a 1st level spell. Final battle? Magic missiles? Do any of you see anything wrong with that?

It is cause it can overcome the magic resistance of the target of course.
Or used to bring down ward spells :D
What is problematic is how fast he ran out of mana, not that he used magic missiles :o

Actually, since it's the kind of spell that penetrates spell resistance well and increases in effectiveness as you gain caster levels. He shot five, so he should be at least a level ten caster type, no? ;)

D&D is pretty sexy.

I was more like expecting the magic missile to misfire and end up as a delayed-blast fireball...

I see that some things never change. Where is the line drawn from Larp to Pennsic? We battle nerds command a bit more respect because we don't (laugh) use magic missiles. Sheesh. However being campy is cool.

Any take on This?

The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
