hi i'm of doing the Degrodel quest because i want the helm and cloak of Balduran before speaking to the duke. i got to his house killed everything there took on the quest and went to felorius gist to de-stone Vail and his party members but there where no statues in the building!
After that i quickly went to the undercellars for finding the cloak but no statue there either! so is the claok lost for ever or aint i looking in the right places? (it is my first time through BG1 but i look into the walkthrough quit a lot to see where the good stuffs is )

no statues to be found though but i just pickpocket the lady in the undercellars. couldn't find her because i was looking for a statue and not for a moving gall
If I remember correctly, statues are in some house in the Center of Baldur's gate, I don't remember the name because I played it long time ago, but I think it's house of some Lord.
Unfortunately, I don't remember where is the clue that points to that house, but I think it's written in some message or someone mentions to you this guy...Perhaps someone else knows more about it.
Just to be clear: you found Gist inside that house, right? Because he has to be there. And there were no statues with him?

yes gist was inside the house and i told him that his neck would be spared if i could a look around. but there was notthing to see in his house.
so there where no statues and the lady in the undercellars was still in flesh and blood and no statue either. so i think it was just a bug. anyhow i got all the items in wanted so in the end all went well.
