Import Characters

Post by Baraduin »

I have loved this game since I bought it, but the most disapointing thing for me is building a character up through Baldur's Gate and then not being able to import him to the Shadows of Amn game. I have tried several times, and I cannot figure it out. I know it must be easy and I am doing something wrong because I read how People do it all the time. I do not play the Multii-Player so I do not know if that has something to do with it or not. Can someone help me and explain to me like you would a 3 yr old :o

What you do is go to your character folder in the Baldur's Gate directory, copy the exported character and then paste it in the folder of the same name within the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn directory.

I find it a lot easier to just copy the save folder from BG 1 to SoA, then import from the game save.

Isn't it more fun to start a new character?

Not always, sometimes its nice to carry over the character for continuity, especially if roleplaying.

What's more, you can get a more powerful character as you have the Tomes to boost your stats.
Of course, you may not want a more powerful character.
