Headgear

Post by Dizha »

Okay, people..

Been playing Fallout 3 since christmas, and I looove this game.. :D

Though, i can't really find a headgear worth wearing more than a few seconds.. I use the Raiders Blastmasters Helmet, big guns and explosives +5, but the thing is breaking all the time, since it's clearly a really "weak" item..

So i was wondering, what are you guys using as headgear out there?

All the hats break all the time. I usually use the shady hat because it looks good and I like the bonuses. As long as you're wearing the hat, you get the bonuses whether it's broken or not. It's only the DR that you lose.

Yeah, the minimal DR that most headgear provides generally isn't worth the hassle of keeping it in repaired (because as swcarter pointed out, the other effects stay active no matter how low the condition of the item). However, if you're wearing something that provides a skill or S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonus you like and it's condition drops to 0%, don't remove it until you have the time and materials to repair it, because you won't be able to put it back on. You can't equip a helmet with 0% condition. I'm not completely sure if the same thing applies to non-armor hats, because I'm partial to the Enclave Officer Hat (for the Energy Weps boost) and it never seems to get damaged in combat. The hat's condition stays where it is no matter how much of a beating my body armor takes.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

I am partial to the shady hat. I like the way it looks. It has decent bonuses and is cheap to repair. I know Ledoux's Hockey Mask is supposedly really good. But I can't stand the way it looks. I suppose if I ever switch to power armor, I'll utilize the helmet for it. But, I'm not a huge fan.

I spend the majority of the game in Red's Bandana, it looks alright and doesnt cover the face up like some of the other hats and stuff.
The blastmaster helmet can be handy sometimes too though I never wear it for any length of time.
ooh and the hood someone else mentioned it quite good as well.
