I played most of the game with the big half-orc, but he never asked about the axe that is part of his quest. I did get several dialogue boxes that said soemthing to the effect of "he'll talk more when you're a higher level," and I started the final fight at level 16 (I actually slept right before the fight to gain the spells--that was close!).
At what level do henchmen reveal their quest items? I collected three of them I think--star of calinsham, the oak seeds (?) the bard (?) wanted to find, and the axe.
I dragged that freakin' axe thorugh two chapters waiting for that big dolt to say something...
Henchmen question
I think the quest for these items are scripted such that you need to reach a certain level and talk to the proper character within that chapter. As each chapter is a different module, nothing passes between them save your character and related inventory.
So if the script would allow the Orc to give you that quest in chapter 2 once you reach level 8, then you must have reached level 8, have talked to him to get the quest, and complete the quest in chapter 2.
While it is pretty much assumed that the level requirement is reasonably easily obtainable in the scripted chapters; I think it is possible although a sad and unfortunate case where you can have simply missed out talking to him at the right moment or it may be that you simply missed the moment by pushing too far too fast...

The henchmen quests have to be completed chapter by chapter...and if you don't complete the first ones in Neverwinter, you won't be able to do the additional ones that upgrade what they originally give you as a reward.chefboy00 wrote:I dragged that freakin' axe thorugh two chapters waiting for that big dolt to say something...
I originally didn't want to have a henchman, and so I cleaned out one of the quarters without one. Then I began hiring them one by one and completing them as I cleaned out the other 3 quarters...just for the experience...only hiring them once I already had their item. I never had a level issue with them. When I first hired them, I told them I wanted to "just talk"...and then they would begin their 3 part tale. Once they would stop, I would wait until we had adventured for a while, and then talk to them again at times when we were at a stopping point.
The items they give you and later upgrade are well worth the effort, imho.
