Atronaughts

Post by Solcius »

I have a quick question about these elemental creatures. For about 1 in-game month a flame and frost atronaught have lied in my dining room, dead. Long story... but there they are. :D anyways i was wondering how long their bodys will lay there. Most creatures dissapear in a matter of days, but not in this case. they are atronaught familiars. Any idea if or when they dissapear? Cuz their taking up space and im tired of thinking my house is on fire when i walk in

Thats a funny one :)
I killed some thieves in Anvil at about level 9, at level 23 there is one still in front of the gate to the sea front. The others disappeared so I think his presence isnt eternal.

Maybe get another house.

I wouldn't advise it! What's the longest period you've been away for at any one time? The game doesn't respawn cells until you've been away for three full days.

If you don't want to keep them, and you don't want to let them linger until the Cell resets. If you are on a PC, open the Console Command Window with the ~ key, then click on the bodies and enter the command, "Disable", but without the quotation marks. Or use the command "Resurrect", have them follow your character outside, kill them again, loot them again. Then disable them there or let them rot there. ;)

What house are you in? I had a similar thing happen in the Shivering Isles. I killed several Dark Seductresses in several parts of Sheogorath's palace during one part of the main quest. Most of them I killed in other parts of the palace on the same mission disappeared after about 3 days as usual, but one I killed in the throne room never disappeared. This was on 360, no mods. After a few weeks of game time I did exactly what you suggested - tried the body as a container for a few low-value items. A few more weeks of game time later, they were still there. So I dragged the body close to the entrance where it was super-convenient, and used it as a container from then on.

A bit disturbing maybe, but hey, it's the realm of madness after all...:mischief:

Anyway, the persistence almost has to be some attribute of the cell the body is in and not the body itself, because the body that didn't disappear was just a generic palace guard, not a named character or anything. Which is why I was wondering what house it happened to you in.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

I was about to say there was a 'Corpse Persists' check box in the construction set creature/NPC edit form, but thought I'd beter check first. Just as well as I couldn't find one, although it does exist in the Morrowind CS, hence my confusion.

I'm wondering if the same facility does exist in the Oblivion, but just not enabled (or I simply couldn't find it) in the public construction set.

I had a look at the Cell dialog box and couldn't find any way there to make a corps persisit either. 'Curiouser and Curiouser' quoth Alice!

A Curious......

...... (fill in the blank) indeed! For Oblivion, there is a mod that makes corpses stay around, so you know what happened to them, etc. and another one that helps you get rid of them because they linger too long. So that tells me that modders are indeed confused as to what the intended state is supposed to be. OOPS! There's one that makes the corpses decay in a slow state until they eventually become skeletons, and then individual bones and skulls. The other involves a spell called "Disappearing Act".

I use the one that keeps the bodies around, for I may find a use for them. I also used Disappearing Act to cast on them and make them vanish. It also worked on storage units like barrels, chests, etc. But I lost it and I can't find it. Looking for it, is one of the things that made me find forums like this one. I get caught up in reading threads and soon find myself joining in on them.

Hi, Solcius! So they are friendlies then?! Well in that case, learn the "Resurrect Spell" and bring them back to life. That's how I keep mine alive.
But now I just leave them on post as sentries, so that I don't have to keep bringing them back alive so often. ;)

P.S.: I was using my best impression of TV's Greg Ferguson when I wrote that, by the way.

I had a look at the Atronach's that are created by the alters in Frostcrag in the CS and interestingly they all have the Quest Item check box ticked. Maybe that explains why the corpses persist.
