unpause=hidden interface?? (spoilers)

just finished my work for the shadow thieves and made my way to the island...but after a failed battle with the vampires at the start, I reloaded, and then for some obscure reason, unpausing hides my interface, and pausing brings it back. I've obviously reloaded and it is still this way...is it some kind of key-combination I hit by accident or? I'd like to NOT continue with this "setup"

EDIT: just adding that reloading some of my old games, I found that they were normal...even reloading my backup of the current game, but quite a bit earlier in the game, this savegame was also normal...but my autosave and my quicksave are screwed

I'm pretty sure the default key is to just hit "H", and that will show and hide the interface.

ah so simple...maybe I should've done a bit of research on my own
