Screwing up and fixing a character in Shadowkeeper

Post by Lemons »

I know this is a bit wordy, but I'd appreciate some help greatly.

So I performed an exceptional screw up. I started a game with the intention of playing a Kensai/Swashbuckler*, having an Assassin and romancing Viconia. I figured I'd dual my Kensai with a Swashbuckler* and keep Yoshimo with me until his thieving skills caught up, as I dropped all my Assassin's points in Hide in Shadows, Move Silently and Detect Illusions, and she'd be a crappy anti-trap/locked door person.

*Of course this is impossible. When I think D&D I think in 3.5 version rules as I'm used to that, so I of course thought you could choose a kit when dual classing.

I had already dualed to Thief, so ****ed with him in Shadowkeeper to make him a level 9 Kensai again and lowered his Dex and Wis and placed the points in Int to be fair. He still had the weapon profs and THAC0 and abilities of a level 1 Thief though, so I made him a level 1 Kensai and gave him enough XP to level up, but he still only had the weapon profs and stuff of a Thief so I'm worried his stats might be worse than that of a normal level 9 Kensai. I manually changed his THAC0 and weapon profs but I wanted to double check, would this be right for an unbuffed level 9 human kensai (17 STR, 16 CON, 16 DEX):

Base THAC0/THAC0: 12/10
# of Attacks: 3/2

Saves:
Par/Poison/Death: 8
Rod/Staff/Wand: 10
Pet/Poly: 9
Breath: 9
Spells: 11

To Hit: +1
Damage: +1
AC: -2
Missle Adjust: +1
Reaction Adjust: +1
HP/Level: +2

If checking this is a tall order, especially because my lack of foresight brought this upon me, can anyone point me to some charts or something related to the BG2 rules so I can check myself?

Thanks.

The mistake was right there, you need to make him level 0, with 0 XP, level him/her up in game. Then give the necessary XP in SK to level up to the required level.

Thanks a load. It worked, except now my guy has 195 hp. Going to change that.

EDIT: I just did the process over but changed his base HP to 1 when I made him level 0.

i read this thread and it helped me understand a little about remaking a character already underway, but I still need some help. I started as an Inquisitor, they have immunities to Charm and Hold. Don't I have to remove these in Shadow Keeper myself after changing to a fighter class? I don't know how this is done. Also what saving throws should I put as a pure Kensai for a level 0? I don't have the original BG to install and start a new character to see the values myself.
