I hated how the economy steel goods were quite prized early on but several levels later every bandit has daedric enchanted gear.

I also hated how the monsters in the countryside go from low level critters at early levels to strong monsters.

I hated the lack of variation in environments and monsters. I hated the lack of variation in gameplay from powers to some extent. Ok not as much so with mages...

For example at level 1 I am hitting a goblin 3x with my steel shortsword...3 hits and its dead.

At level 11 with a more powerful weapon and higher stregth and blade skill I am hitting an ogre 3x and its dead..

Your skills get better but something new only opens up in the skill at 25 50 75 and 100...and some of them you don't really notice in your actual experience (what difference is it if a goblin is hitting me with his broken dagger and I am in leather with 25 light armor OR a level 10 bandit is hitting my enchanted mithril armor with an enchanted orcish axe at 50 light armor)

basicly what I want is at each level up or at least every 5 levels to get a new option...say I gain an aura...or a combat move...or a summon

If you play a mage its kind of like this but its more about how rich you get and how you power level up your minor skills to powerful levels to unlock more spells.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

A good example of course being the first quest you do for the Orc in the fighters guild. 'Great you gave us our weapons, now we are going to run off really fast and get killed so you dont get a bonus.'

Oh my, yes! I'd almost repressed the memory of reloading a save game in the Dagon Shrine about a bazillion times trying to keep the Argonian prisoner, Jeelius, alive! I eventually had to resort to blasting him with a paralyze spell every few minutes and running ahead to clear the next room of Mythic Dawn goons while he was down.
Can the answer to this question be "No"?

Ah yes! This caused me some distress while trying to close the Cheydinhal Oblivion gate. As you know, you have save the Count's son, then keep him alive because he insists on following you to ensure that the deed is done. So we get to bridge and the gate opens with two or more Dremora charging me. Count Jr. and his companion lock on and attack the same Dremora Im crushing. The Dremora has second thoughts, picks a random direction, and High-tails it. It just so happens that the direction he goes takes him off the Bridge and into the lava. Our smart friend, the honorable Count Jr. decides to follow him into the Lava to finish the job, with his companion close behind (plus the other dremora, whom also lost his mind and decided that he was a little chilled). So there I stand at the side of the bridge, watching my reward, er, companion burn, wondering "When was the last Auto-Save again?"

Post removed. Sorry, but if we could stay on subject--you know, your worst gaming moments in Oblivion. ;) Thanks.

Generally on an xbox elite you would think riding through the countryside wouldnt make your horse do the boogy woogy everytime a level loads,... but it does. Nice ride in the cou ou ou nnnnn tr tr tr yeeeeee. Apart from that, Dread zombie is very boring. Oh they are sensetive to fire,.. Blam a nuke tracer flare to the undies, repeatedly,.... not even slowed the fellow down. Use enchanted weapons,... used an enchanted claymore, for an hour, till it broke. Glass weapons are good, picked up the glass mace, used it till it broke, then a 2 handed glass axe, till it broke. I have burned him, roached him, fritzed him, and he just keeps on coming. These coders have a sense of humour. I have to kill this thing because I am sure it will follow me back to town. Muuuuaaah, muuuuaaaah loop.

Also I love the long mazes where you are dodging traps and crazy resilient enemies, and at the end a pot with 2 gold,.... eeeeek :)

Whats with the horse hate? Bandits are trying to KILL my horse constantly. What do they get out of that? Horse meat? After they have done that they better have cab fare. These sickos have the same turbos as the necros,... they move like lightning.

Who put the turbo charges in the necromancers jocky shorts? I am slushing about with my weapon drawn and they are teleporting all over the place producing endless streams of toxic minions.

Great game though.

Previously, I thought it was my worst moment when Angie the Buxom and her Skinned Hound, "Skinny", got stuck high in the sky over the Imperial City. But at least it was bittersweet for they looked to be in Heaven. (But if you go by the screenshots, it looks sort of funny.)

Well, yesterday, or last night, the time before I went to sleep at any rate, I had a moment that was or is worse than that. It wasn't the game's fault, it was mine, so emotionally that makes it worst. It had been too long since my last save!  :( :o

Apple Candy Cane had closed two or three Oblivion Gates. Got distracted from "Dagon Shrine" by "Revenge Served Cold". Experimented with Vampirism. Endured having an ugly face for awhile, until she had a face lift.

Then she resumed "Dagon Shrine" and was riding her trusty steed, "AON" ("Armored Old Nag") from Velverine to Chorrol, when they were ambushed by a male and female Redguard Bandits duo. They ignored Apple Candy Cane to focus their efforts on poor AON. She equipped her archery set and chased the bandits up and down the various hills as they chased AON. AON did survive the attempted assaults on her, and the bandits where killed and looted as usual.

Then Apple proceeded to cast "Polymorph Sheep", first on the male, and then on the female. The male was "reincarnated into an ewe" just fine. However, as Apple was flicking her wrist at the female, wouldn't you know, AON arrives to nuzzle that same arm!

The spell hits AON right on the nose! Mare becomes ewe! Quickly followed by the dead female bandit. But.... NOOOOOO! Not poor AON! If she had been killed, Apple could have cast "Resurrect" on her. But there's no turning back or recovering from "Polymorph Sheep"! (It had been too long to go back to when she was still an equine.) Apple carries a scroll with a list of creatures, but her horse wasn't included on it so she couldn't use "Console"!

So after she sold her new loot to a Roaming Trader, she continued on to Chorrol. She found a bag labled "Horse Funds" near the stables and took out the 5,000 Septims. Now she sits on a chair on the porch there, contemplating whether or not to get a new horse friend, as she mourns AON's time as a horse. :(

EDIT: Apple bought the Black Horse for 5,000 Septims. However, she couldn't mount it! She was able to mount the Paint Horse and the other Black Horse, and get in trouble for it though. But each time the guard paid her fine for her, so the stable girl stopped hitting Apple with her rake! Unable to use her new Black Horse, she went for a refund. Instead she had to sell it back as used, and got only a little over 3,000 Septims for her unused Black Horse!
Shhh! Be very quiet! I may be sleep writing and sleep reading!

Fljotsdale wrote:Worst for me: the continual crahes, so you have to save all the time. But maybe tha's just my system isn't good enough, even though it is more than minimum requrements. :(
Yep, the continual crashes and the video slowdowns where doors and gates either stop opening or move so slowly that you think its locked up are the worst experiences I've had. To fix the later problem, and I'm not sure if it will fix it or not, I upgraded my RAM from 2 to 4 Gig and my video card from a nVidia GeForce 7800GT to a GeForce 9800GT card. With the economy in the toilet the bargains on computer upgrades is incredible. Anyway, I reloaded the core game, SI add-on with patch and KotN/plug-ins cd. Don't know if it fixes the slowdown problem as that usually occurs very late in the game but now I crash every half-hour or so of gameplay with an error report message saying the game had a conflict with a codec file called "I3codecx.ax". After a few days of this I did some web searching and found that this is a common problem. One person claims to have resolved it by disabling the third party audio/video codec files and rebooting. The procedure, which I am experimenting with now, is to go into the Control Panel, Select "Sounds and Audio Devices" then select "Hardware" then "Audio Codecs" then "Properties". In Audio Codec Properties select "Properties" again to see the installed codecs. Try to figure out which of these (in my case eleven audio codecs are shown) are third party and disable them. Do the same for Video Codecs (which I am reluctant to do for now), reboot and hope that the crashing problem is fixed and your computer still operates.

Crashing Fixed (hopefully)

In my last post I mentioned that my crashes were caused by a conflict with a codec file called I3codexc.ax. Well, I tried a new search using *.ax and found it in C:/Windows/System32 and the correct name of this dll file is "L3codecx.ax". The L looked like a capital I in the error message. I renamed the file to L3codecx.old and rebooted. Haven't had a crash since and hopefully won't have any others. Hope this helps those with this problem. Just be sure to open the Error Report and read the details at the top. It will tell you where the conflict/error occured. If it comes up with this dll/codec file then this may be the fix you're looking for.

During the liberation of Kvatch, I fought my way right into the mayor's house together with three Imperial Legionnaires (if that is the correct name). While I was inside the house I entered a room filled with imps. Died quite a number of times until I managed to clear it after the 4th try. Fighting the summon after the imps is irritating as it took 3 tries to defeat her together with one Legionnaire.

In any case, it is easy to have way too many codecs on your machine. Codec packs are generally a bad idea because chances are a number of them will conflict with the ones you already have. Deleting/disabling codecs often works wonders. Also too many media players often cause video and audio problems. I have had very good experiences with the Revo uninstaller that is a small free app that also cleans out associated files and registry entries. It has a web update function and a tools section that allows you to clear out junk files too.

My worst gaming moments with oblivion were fixed by flushing the xbox 360 memory at startup. The game runs alot smoother now but not seamlessly. I don't really mind as this is the most graphically rich, and largest game I have played so far.

My worst was when I was rescuing Peyrites followers' souls from Oblivion and 1 stupid soul decided to run off into lava when he saw a Clannfear following me. So of course to finish the quest I had to swim into the lava looking for him and this took literally dozens of tries. Needless to say I was pissed off. I mean, come on! he was a soul, he couldnt be killed, so why run from a Clannfear!? And into lava no less!

Was it the Argonian for you too? After reading what you wrote, I'm thinking that because they are disoriented in there, souls or not, and because Argonian instinct would have them head for water when choosing to flee, that's probably why he goes into the lava, mistaking it for water!

If my water walking gear works on lava too, why not? ;)

I find "Resurrect" and "Teleport Others" very helpful, when rescuing from such places, to get them back on land.

No it was one of the humans. The Argonian tried to run away but I caught him before he plunged to his eternal death. Sadly I can't use the console because, of course, I'm playing on Xbox 360 and have to use only what Bethesda offered.

I noticed too late in your other post, that you play on an X-Box 360 and therefore can't use mods or the Console. A human huh? Hm. So much for my hypothesis! Well, my X-Box character completed the Arena I think, but is basically still doing the Main Quest. She lives in my brother's machine, so I only get to play with her during visits, but not the last few, sadly.

Well, continued good luck wishes anyway!
