Ok, I am the bossman I have these attractive fans that turn up regularly. They offer their services but there is no dialogue that allows me to do anything with them.
Dark brotherhood murderers do however help out when I order. Whats up with these fighters guild pussies? Afraid of a little bloodshed? Ha ha.
Are you playing on a PC? If so, there are mods that let you order around NPCs--who either will or won't do your bidding, depending on your reputation, your rank relative to theirs in a given guild, etc. Best I know of is Companion Share Recruit.

Thanks fable. I thought that might be it. I am playing the xbox version. It probably has alot to do with my fame/infamy rating, or notoriety, or some such. Seems I will have to become a more famous fellow.
