I keep getting this error on my Vista machine. Anyone know of any solutions?

When does this error occur?
Is your IWD expanded and patched?
Are you using any mods?

No expansions, no mods.

It asks me to register the product, I say not yet. They ask if I'm sure, and I am. Then it gives me the error.

It worked quite well right when I installed it, I created my characters and played around a little right in the town before quitting. Now, I can't play it at all.

Hmm, weird.

I read about a similar, if not identical error on another forum. The person experiencing the issue said it went away after he patched his game. Perhaps that might work for you, as well?

In any case, bonne chance, as they say. :)

Still no luck. I reinstalled the game and I can play it right there. I then exit the program, then I can't play it any more. I get that error.

Weird...

I know this is quite old, but I had the same problem and couldn't find a solution online. Usually setting compatibility to windows xp will work for these older games but that wasn't working for me. It wasn't until I went in and opened the install disk and changed the compatibility of the Setup.exe file to windows xp before installing it that I fixed this issue.
