The Dark Eye: Drakensang [PC]

Post by Ergopad »

The Dark Eye: Drakensang

The story centres around Ferdok, an important trading city on the Great River. The feared female lancers of Ferdok and Ferdok's famous beer have given the city a reputation throughout the continent and the humans here live in harmony with the dwarves. But despite the cheerful and peaceful atmosphere, the peace is now being shaken by a mysterious series of murders. Sinister figures are pursuing their dark schemes, while the fear among the population grows with every new murder. And while the adventurers are still pondering whether the crimes are connected to the proclamation made by the Church of Hesinde on the tenth anniversary of the Dragonquest, they themselves are dragged into the mysterious events by a very particular murder...

I highly recommend this game, if you like games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Placescape: Torment or Neverwinter Nights. Finally a traditional party-based RPG.

It's already available for download from Direct2Drive, GamersGate and Steam. The disc version will be launched in this month.

Try the demo. :)

Played the demo before and didn't like it. Not my cup of tea, if you ask me.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

I'm with DesR85. The combat AI is a joke, and you can only control one character at a time.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I have to say that although I had high hopes, I barely got started in the demo before I'd had enough :(

Yes You Can

There is 3 ways to select all characters! :)

#1. Double click on one of the avatars of your characters and it will select all the characters.

#2. Press the ","-key IIRC to select all characters.

#3. Or click dotted box on lower-right corner to select all characters.

So you didn't play that much obviously...

I recommend again the game, if you like party controlling BG/IWD-style CRPG. At first, the rules seems absurd, but once you understand them, they are great. Overall, the game gets better the more you play it... Especially when you leave the city at first time. ;)
