How do I cast a spell?

Post by arsesq »

Sheogorath has just given me a new spell, to summon Haskill, and he wants me to use it. "Go ahead, he loves it." But I can't figure out how to cast it. It's not listed anywhere in my inventory. I understand that it's a Minor Power. Does that mean it won't appear in my inventory? If so, how do I equip it so the C key will cast it? If it should be in my inventory, what do I do now that it isn't?

I think I've done everything right up to now. The only shortcuts I took were to use the console to unlock or disable a couple of doors in the course of reactivating Xedilian, because I couldn't find their remote switches. My quest journal looks to be in order. My dialog on reporting back to Sheogorath seems to have been complete up to the point of summoning Haskill. And there I'm stuck. What to do?

Well, I loaded up "Angie the Buxom" just for you! Looking at her Spells, listed under the one with the eye icon on the extreme left, under "Lesser Powers" I found it under "Sheogorath's Protection". (Unless you have "Silent Death" too, then it will be under it. It seems to be alphabetical that way.) If needed, I can make screenshots to show you where I found it in her Spells Menu.
Shhh! Be very quiet! I may be sleep writing and sleep reading!

Ummm, thanks, I think. I'm talking about Sheogorath in Shivering Isles. Does he appear elsewhere? Who's Angie the Buxom? That's to say, I didn't understand most of your post. I think my situation is this: either something's wrong (a bug, for instance) and I just didn't get the spell I should have, or I just don't know the simple mechanics of casting it. I don't know what it signifies that it's a Minor Power.

I have almost no experience with spells. I've made my way with an Akavari blade and the Bow of the Glacier and practically nothing else. I got as far as equipping Summon Deadra to key C and casting it by hitting C. That's all I know about spells. Since I can't find Summon Haskill in my inventory, I've got nothing to click on to equip it to C.

Please help me in words of one syllable, if possible.

Angie the Buxom is my most recent player character who has completed the quests that you are doing now. SPOILER!
Spoiler
You become Sheogorath's replacement!
Hence having the spell, "Sheogorath's Protection". In Angie's list of spells, "Sheogorath's Protection" is followed by "Silent Death", followed by "Summon Haskill". If you haven't advanced that far though, you probably wouldn't have "Sheogorath's Protection" spell. (She got "Silent Death" from Mezlo's Mods I think.)

But anyway, I thought that your problem was that you couldn't find it or see it in your Spells Menu where it would be listed under "Lesser Powers", not "Minor Powers". But once you do find it, simply click on it to highlight it as your active spell. Then once you close the menu you should be able to cast it. I hope that helps! :)

AHA! It's not in my inventory. It's somewhere else. Let me look there. More later.

Thanks so much

Thanks so very much for helping me out. That advice was just the ticket. It took me a while of phumphing around, but I found Summon Haskill and it works just fine. I'm off to Mania!
