Question Regarding Secret Alchemy Recipe

I have some questions.

1. I read somewhere that Auralia in Averstrue has a secret recipe. How do I get it?

2. Do I miss out on a lot if I don't do the thieve's guild quest in Avestrue before proceeding?

1. Auralia will give you a quest about a recipe in Ferdok.

2. The thieves' guild quest will lead to you learning the location of the thieves' guild in Ferdok. I forgot to keep checking up on the thieves' guild in my game, but if you never get to talk to them then you'll lose out on at least 1 quest and a shopkeeper.
