Quest in particular: rats under the brewery - they all seem to immediately attack my caster - intelligent foes havent done this ( so far), but animals?
Final battle: seems no matter when I do this fight, I get badly wiped quickly. My first try I almost had the boss rat, but the repeated waves of lesser ones eventually got me. I returned later, better equiped and trained, but did even WORSE!
Is there any special trick or strategy for this final fight there? And are the combats based on the player level with adjustments as the player team gets improved ( like what had been level 2 npc's vs lvl 2 player becomming level 5 creatures vs player level 5 characters?
Crafting: Is there any point in keeping leather / hides? I would have thought there would be leather armor crafting, especially early on, but haven't as yet found any. This would be good for caster armors, especially if they had a crafter bonus.
Looting: I noticed a few instances of a successfull loot roll with NO loot item in the screen. Two creatures this happend with were troll frog ( or toad) and giant crab in the moors ( 1st town after the main city).
quest, crafting, looting questions
I'm not sure about that looting business myself. It wasn't until I ran into a recipe that required frog legs that I was able to gather them. Same with the giant crabs - only much, much later was I able to pick their pincers as loot (though I managed to pick them even without animal lore, meaning just plain old looting). I also never got a thing from the big emerald spiders. I, too, wuld love to know if this is a confirmed bug or what.
Leather, hides etc - just sell them.No armor crafting recipies in this game. What you do need to keep are poison fangs, leather strips, sinews and a few recipies also require bear teeth and frog legs (but don't worry - given the otehr rare ingrediants for tohose, you'llnever need too much of them and they're available for sale anyway).
The infamous rats! I don't think the encounter scales to party level. People reccomended doing this quest around levels 7-8. I did it on 6-7 and it was tough, but doable.
Fastness of Body should have your casters covered in there, and besides, I don't think the rats really target the casters - its just that the casters stay way behind, isolated, and the rats are all trying to gang up on the party. Naturally, ther'll be more rats around a single character then around two or three.
Next, when it comes to the rat mom, I found the following to work: Focus on the big rat. Once she summons her brood, concentrate on them first and only then go back to beating her. She has high magic resistance, but it just might be possible to put her to sleep while you're fighting her minions. She'll summon the brood three times, I think and every time, it's the same tactics -- defeat the smaller rats, then go back to beating her. If your caster is still up and about by that time, have him/her heal and buff the party as needed; if not, try having enough Oneberry Juices on you so you can heal on the fly. It was tough, but using this tactics, the rat mom was soon biting nothing but dust.

The universe, they said, depended for its operation on the balance of four forces which they identified as charm, persuasion, uncertainty and bloody-mindedness.
