HUD scaling

Post by Ansive »

So I got the media patches, copied mss32.dll from kotor 1 to make it work on vista and applied the widescreen patch (and later map fix).

There's just one thing bugging me though.
Regardless if the resolution is 800x600 or 1600x1200 the hud takes up the same space. It's needlessly large (for me at least).

Any way I can disable HUD scaling?

Just compare these screenshots.

Have you actually played the game with that huge GUI?

I've patched the game to work with widescreen, but as far as I know, there's no way to make the GUI smaller.

Yes, I realized after all that if an easy way was possible it would have been already available by now.

In Kotor the HUD and everything else is static.
In Kotor2 everything scales according to the resolution. Kind of like Warcraft 3, you see the same thing regardless of the resolution, just with more detail.

So I decided I'll live with the big HUD, but I can't stand the stretch.

Even though I was able to play the first game at 1920x1200 with almost no problems, 1600x1200 will have to do for the second.

There is a "Use small fonts" setting in the ini file. But setting it to 1 causes the game to crash at start. So I don't know what it does.

Finished the game on 1600x1200. I got used to the large HUD.
