i'm still at level 14.. not yet progress to level 15 thus cannot select that Neverwinter Nine class yet.. but getting there...

now i'm in the middle of raiding the Gem Mines near Riverguard Keep and in progress of rebuilding the Crossroad Keep... oh and the Scythe+5 Jacoby have for sale is mighty tempting.. if only maintaining the Keep not taken so much gold.. i would have bought it

also i started to try to rebuild the golem with the help of Grobnar...

hopefully i'll be able to hit Level 15 soon and i'll update if there's still any problem selecting NeverWinter Nine class...

any idea what to do if i still cannot advance to Niverwinter Nine class after i hit Level15?

thanks in advance

Sometimes the game does progress a little slow. :o

I started up a game of the OC again just to try-out a "functional" Wizard.. :p Its OK, but sometimes it seems to "drag".. Still, the shear "scope" of the game is absolutely magnificent when compared to the official expansion campaigns - especially SOZ.

If that's just a +5 Scythe with no other enchantments then get it. ;) That way you'll have one less enchantment to worry about in that I believe that +5 is the max you can have in the OC.

*IF* you can't (don't want to) hold off on leveling-up or again selecting the Fighter class and waiting until latter for the NWN class.. THEN

You could always select the class: Ranger. It will give you access to both Heal and Spot skills without incurring a BAB penalty. What it won't give you is the NWN's "aura", nor will it give you an increase in a Will save (rather a Fortitude save instead). (..both give you an increase in a Reflex save.) On the other hand a Ranger will give you Track and one "Favored Enemy" (..Undead would be the best choice for favored enemy). You could of course *prefer* this selection and just choose Ranger. ;)

Either way - it won't really impact the build.

a wizard ehh.. :D maybe later you can share with us the build .. since i heard thatplaying as wizard will get very tedious early in the game..

- i think the scythe just come with Enhancement bonus +5 IIRC.. will get it soon enough
- will i beable to enhance this scythe further by maybe adding some Vampiric regen thinggy to it?

- Progress have slow a bit for me.. too hectic with work at office.. but still got around 30mins worth of game session... i think in the next few gaming session i'll hit another level..
- in the mean time.. i think i'll hold-off leveling up and wait until i'm a NW9 before i continue further.. would love to see your suggested build till the very end and see how good it will become... :D

.. maybe later i should ask for your help again on a possible "uber-powerful" sorcerer build.. :p

D@mn forum just shredded my long response..

Short version ;) :

Yup - up to 2 enchantments ADDITIONAL for the +5 Scythe.

Wizards better than Sorcerer, scratch Sorcerer plan, instead go with Wizard (..potentially better dialogue skills as well).

I'll likely post a few builds on Wizard with instructions for best use.

Wizard is never really tedious to use, but incredibly difficult very early in-game (until at least level 5).

still no NW9..

.. a bit of progress last night.. and it seems that i still cannot get the Neverwinter Nine class.. maybe due to the fact that i'm still not a Neverwinter Nine member since Lord Nasher still dont want me...any idea when that will happen guys?

I'm done clearing the Temple Of Seasons....

i think what i'll do now, i'll not level up *yet* until i'm a member of NW9 and do as what claudius & scottg suggested earlier...keep the level up until i'm ready to do so...

further more i dont think i'll be able to advance in Frenzied Berserker class as well (for now) due to my alignment which is now at Lawful Good  need to do something evil when i'm ready to proceed with the FB class later on.... to follow the build being suggested by scottg...

until then... :D

Temple of Seasons?

..is it Ammon Jerro's Haven? If so, you should be progressing into chp. 3 *very* soon. At the end of the first "quest" in chp. 3 you should be given the opportunity to select the NWN class.

I'm about 2/3rd's of the way through with a Wizard Guide, but haven't started on any of the builds yet (..and I'm expecting at least 7 to choose from). Yeah, a "guide".. I searched around for a good one and didn't see anything particularly worthwhile. :o

its Temple of something in Act 2 around the Riverkeep mansion.. its the quest to find the Statue of Purification....

this temple is when you open/read the book on the pedestal in a room according to the seasons and find the monster in there... so i believe i'm no where near Ammon Jarro Haven... yet :D ;)

man you're fast.. 2/3 ofthe OC already.. and you just started this character right? :p

Ah, my bad.. you still have a way to go before you are into chp. 3. :o Not that far though. :D

Nope.. not into 2/3rd's of the OC.. I stopped playing the recent Wizard/OC for a bit (..it crashed during the save process in chapter 2, the next earlier save I have is quite a bit before then .. so I've been reluctant to start the game back up again).

I'm 2/3rds of the way finished with *writing* a guide on Wizards. ;)

Problems with "purist" Wizard Builds..

For instance - the whole purpose of a purist Wizard is a character that IF it is used properly, can defeat any opponent from several different spells or spell combinations. But that's not the case..

Case in point: Demilich.

Certainly an uber-difficult opponent but not impossible right? Actually it *is* impossible mono-a-mono UNLESS you have the latest module (SOZ) installed, and even then, with *only* a 4th level spell (grouping): The "Orbs" have a chance of damaging the monster.

Nor could I shape-shift (with all the enhancement bonuses I could load up before shifting) into the most offensive shape (Nightwalker) and put a dent in it. (..whiffing-away without the demilich having any protections on.) I can only think that its AC is rather excellent.

I couldn't even get Shadow Simulacrum (of the Demilich) to do the deed, and ALL other summons were useless.

..and Summons..uggh.. what a screwed-up game balancing system.. Contemplating a "Summoner" is contemplating a LOOSER of a character. :( Many of the choices are just plain absurd. At *best* all of the Undead summons are distractions. The only substantial higher level summons simply aren't "good enough" even with maximum "buffing".

It's good to see you are enjoying it again.

I gave up on the Wizard guide.. got into Dragon Age. :o

I also found that I overall preferred a well crafted Sorcerer to a Wizard (..though it's a LOT tough choosing the correct spells for the Sorcerer).

aha.. good to see you still around
i too played Dragon Age.. but need to upgrade my PC to really enjoy it... so for now i'm back at playing NWN2

a quick question tough..

1. How to skip level-up? now i'm at level 14(still) and have 2 level-up which i keep (we call it level scuttling right)... how to skip the selection to upgrade?
it seems that i cant do so i still need to spend at least 1 point in skill to be able to click on the "NEXT" button... any idea?

2. and i'm following your earlier guide to level up. now at Fighter (9) and FB(5) (total will be Level 14 right?) with the 2 level up that i keep i should be in level (15) & level (16) and now in act 3 i think i can start to choose Neverwinter Nine already :)

Thank in advance... and i guess you must be very active in Dragon Age forum by now :)

LOL.. I also had to upgrade the hardware.. what freak'n pain in the @ss! :D But now the children in Denrim market run instead of behaving as statues.. and it's all about the children, right? :p

1. You either level-up or you don't, no way around it. The only thing you can "carry-over" to the next level is 5 skill points, and only 5 for each level NON-cumulative.

2. There was this alteration in the level-up:

"
Make this alteration:

14: Fighter, save all skill points
15. NWN, Heal 3, Spot 5, Feat: Improved Power Attack.."

This was the original:

"9. FB, 3 skill points saved, Feat Able Learner.
10. FB, Heal 6
11. FB, Heal 1, Spot 2
12. Fighter, *Strength 1*, Spot 3, Feat Blind Fight.
13. Fighter, Heal 1, Spot 2, Feat Improved Critical Scythe
14. NeverWinter Nine, Heal 2, Spot 3.
15. Fighter, Heal 1, Spot 2, Feat Improved Power Attack
16. Fighter, *Strength 1*, Heal 1, Spot 2, Feat Weapon Focus Scythe.
17. Fighter, Heal 1, Spot 2.
18. Fighter, Heal 1, Spot 2, Feats: Greater Weapon Focus Scythe, Weapon Specialization Scythe.
19. Fighter, Heal 1, Spot 2.
20. Fighter, *Strength 1*, Heal 3, Feat Greater Weapon Specilization."

You should have achieved your 5th and final level as an FB at level 11. So if you have leveled-up 14 levels then yes, 5 FB levels and 9 Fighter levels. Your 15th level should be Neverwinter Nine with 3 points in Heal and 5 points in Spot, the feat Improved Power Attack. Levels 16 through 20 should be the same as listed above.

Remember to turn on *Improved* Power Attack! ;)

After you have saved Nasher from the attack in the castle, he will make you into one of the Nine.
