Jaheira with 2h weapons - Scalable for ToB?

Post by Whomper »

I must confess to being a big Jaheira fan, and romanced her in my only complete game of BG2. However, I found she was getting hit pretty hard towards the end of the game, and I had concerns about whether she could cut it in ToB, and ended up never really starting/finishing ToB, barring some footling about in Watchers Keep.

I've since read a few descriptions which have largely put that fear to rest (and learnt a lot about druid spells), but they do suggest having her dual-wield with Belm in the offhand for an increase in attacks per round. I've always felt she's more of a two-handed type, attacking from behind the main tanks, and using slings from a distance.

Given my planned party of Minsc, Sarevok, Jaheira, Viconia, My Bard (Blade) and Imoen, will she be able to cut it with two handed weapons? Both Ixil's Spike and the Staff of the Ram look delicious.

Personally, I'd give Belm and the Scarlet Ninja-To +3 to your blade, for increased attack speed. However, since your Bard can achieve five attacks per round through Offensive Spin, you may choose to have your bard use either the Axe of the Unyielding +5 the main hand the the Scarlet Ninja-To +3 in your off hand.

That way, you can give Jahiera your Spectral Brand +5 and your Belm +2. Personally, I don't like the spear too much and think that the Staff of the Ram +6 is better left for a fighter/thief Sarevok (since he has the most THAC0 and it lets you do a nice backstab). The reasons I'd actually use it are to: backstab and to disable the enemy (so that you can pummel him/her/it with your ranged weapons as it slides across the battle field, simply because running behind it to hit it again isn't practical).

Either way, I think that yes, Jahiera can cut it with two handed weapons, especially when utilizing Greater Whirlwind.
