Belhifet won't die

I didn't realise what I had to do to start the HoW and ToL part of the game and hence ended up meeting Belhifet earlier than I should have. My problem was that although he was "nearly dead" he stayed "nearly dead" and didn't die.

Having done a search, apparently there is a bug that causesd this problem.

When I installed "Tales of the Luremaster" the instructions said that I didn't need patching as the expansion included the patches required.

Can somebody inform me whether I need further patching and if so, what patches are required. I live in UK.

I know that I can use the exported character files to start HoW which is what I will do after running a fighter/illusionist to replace my fighter/conjurer.

However, it would be good to get my install working correctly and so would appreciate advice.

TotL includes the latest patch, no further patching is required.
Sometimes Belhilfet stays at near death instead of dying, it might be related to dealing too much damage too fast or not, just retry until this bug doesn't appear any more, it shouldn't take more than 1 or 2 retries unless you're very unlucky or have your game messed up by mods.

For HoW this doesn't have negative consequences, the characters are exported just before the final battle.

I did have three fire elementals together with the rest of the party attacking him, so it could be due to too much damage too quickly.
Strange. It's the first time that I have had that problem with a game.

I had to reinstall the game anyway so I have just used the exported characters. Will I meet him again?

In a HoW game you can't travel to the normal IWD areas, so you won't see him again.

But if you kept your savegame you can simply reload it after the reinstall.

It should also be able to travel to chapter6 Easthaven with the cheat console if you erased your savegames.
