Fallout 2 Compatibility Error

Post by daren420c »

I couldn't find this on the forums so I created a new thread. Hope someone can help.

I'm having a problem attempting to run Fallout 2 on XP. I have installed the unofficial 1.2 patch and the restoration project. I'm attempting to run the game with compatibility mode, but it keeps saying "Error - Fallout appears to be running in compatibility mode" and it won't load. It said this for a while at first when I attempted to right click and manually set the game to run in compatibility mode on Windows 95 or 98, but finally it loaded one time when I opened up FALLOUT2.EXE with the Program Compatibility Wizard for Windows 98. But now it's back to saying the exact same error message and it simply won't load at all anymore for some reason, even when I try the compatibility wizard. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you tried to reinstall the game?

Yeah I tried that, still no luck. To tell the truth I've gave up on this game. I played the original for about 10 minutes and got bored quick. After playing Fallout 3 and having a blast, there really is no comparison. I'm not an old school gamer, I guess that's why I can't get into it.
