Hi all was after a little help. Have come across 5 vamps in a dungeon after firkraag and they keep draining my levels. Can i get those levels back and how do i do it? Cheers

There is a spell called Restoration that Priests(not druids) can cast. I believe it comes in scroll form too. The symbol in your spellbook is silver and circular, and if I remember correctly, it is a level 5 spell.

If you don't have anyone that can cast it, a temple can restore the levels for a price. Don't remember how much.

Also, there is a priest spell called Negative Plane Protection that gives immunity to level drain. I believe it's a level 4 priest spell.

Some items come with this built in. One example is the Amulet of Power, and another is the Mace of Disruption (not sure if it has to be upgraded though).

Also, another spell is called Protection From Undead. It's cast from those green scrolls you see in your stores. When you cast it on yourself, you appear as invisible to ALL undead. So, you can attack them and they won't retaliate. This makes the Demi-Lich fights incredibly easy.

One point I'd like to make(may be a slight spoiler ahead) is that the scrolls are not viable when fighting Kangaax, as he needs to talk to you before he turns into a demi-lich.

Well, the way I like to handle the fight (without resorting to mass trapping) is to use Protection From Magic at the start. Also, not that you CAN cast Protection From Magic on Kangaxx himself. Being protected from magic will make him immune to your spells, yes, but it will also prevent him from casting spells on you and without those, he's harmless.

Yeah, both of those strategies work wonders when taking him down.

The Protection from Undead scroll doesn't work on 'Gaax, but it will work on any other lich in the game.

Don't forget to use simulacrum so you're not having to spend the actual scrolls. Damn I love simulacrum.

I often equip Vhalior's Helm when soloing just to lay a severe beating on anything that would challenge just as single character.

Still, Protection From Undead works wonders against the Demilich form, however, you have to be careful not to summon (if soloing) as his Demilich Howl can kill you at lower levels, due to low saves.
