I enjoyed the vanilla swashbuckler a lot, my first character. But then again, I recently had a Rogue Rebalanced swashbuckler in my team, and enjoyed that even more.

I don't like the underpowered kits much, I guess. But I don't like the overpowered, heavily modded ones either. And I'd never use traps to kill a boss, for example.
You now bear the awesome responsibility of the Metal "Unit". Gussets of wind, seams like reality, pockets of resistance, the seat of power, and legs as flared as your temper. Polish it well; the onus is now on you.

Yeah, the vanilla Swashbuckler was a blast. He hit harder in straight up combat than most characters in the game due to his bonuses.

I didn't even miss backstab...I was able to max out Pick Locks, Find Traps, Pick Pockets, and Set Traps early in the game.

Despite first appearances, the seemingly "underpowered" classes can be strong. I'd recommend toying with the dual classes and multiclasses.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
