severe shopkeeper glitch

Post by Morgan Terror »

Now, this might be a known bug, but i rather doubt it. The problem is that all the Wheel Clan shopkeepers in the Dredge are missing. This includes the inventor. Instead, i'm finding a locator for a dawrf in the back room of the shop, without the actual sprite. The locator is usually placed inside a wall or even outside the walkable area, meaning that i can't talk to them, even if i could. Is this a savegame corruption or an actual bad game file? If so, how do i fix it?

I should add that this is the first time i've gotten this far in the game. Simply put, the shopkeepers are misplaced and without an actual body, so i can't talk to them. Is there any other way to get mithril ore and dwarven steel? I've found one unit of mithril, but i need two more of them, as well as all that other tech stuff. What i need to fix this would probably be the game file for that area.

- Have you installed the latest official patch? If not try this but it won't be save game compatible.
- Leave the location and sleep a day perhaps now they're there.
- Load an older save game and look if the bug happens again.

Mithril Ore can be found in the Dredge (Wheel Clan) or in Quintarra (-> don't know the name of the Shopkeeper).
If I remember correct you can buy Dwarven Steel by Dwarven Smiths, try the one in Tarant.

Yes, i have the patch installed. I thought i might have installed it in the wrong directory, but it wasn't the case.

I returned to the mines a while later, but the bug was still there. What i could try is checking for the time of day, since it's logical when they're gone at night.

I will try your other suggestions, although i haven't seen the items at the shopkeepers myself. But then again, i never visited them much. I suppose i'm pretty stuck on the machanised armour though, which is a shame. Let's hope it's just the time of day that's the problem.

Thanks for the reply though. I was starting to think this would be ignored.

Ahhh that armor isn't worth to spend so much points that you can build it. There are other ways to get that or if you are a small char (dwarf, halfling, gnome) a even better one ;)

Me too but as I said, there are ways to get them without building them.
I read in another threat that you play as a dwarf. -> Iron Clan Armor, which is the best tech armor in the game and it looks like a machined plate.

it seems the bug fixed itself. it was indeed a scripting error in a savegame.
