Buried Memories: Targeting the glass vial

Post by Wits »

For some reason I am finding it impossible to target/pick up the glass vial in the crypt in the Buried Memories quest. The body of Ilsa is so close to it that the cursor won't change from the icon which auto-targets corpses.... I must have spent ten minutes trying to reposition the mouse a tiny amount in order to get it to land on the one pixel that is tied to the doggone vial, all without success!

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks a lot for your advice; changing camera angles was all it took. I can't believe something as simple as that stopped me cold. :o

By the way, pressing alt didn't seem to do anything; perhaps that only works on certain types of objects?

Last time I played, I don't recall ever seeing that vial having a wording on top of it when pressing the 'Alt' key. I suspect it's part of the body and I don't think its possible to even take it at all.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

You need to take the vial as part of the quest. I got it after following demigame's advice and changing camera angles (as I stated in my last post.) I was just asking what pressing alt does, because it didn't seem to do anything when I pressed it.

I didn't take the vial , but still completed the quest. (there are some white words appear when i click the vial, i play 1.45 E.E)
i think you are right. "ALT" only for special mission objects.

Press+hold the ALT key will highlight all interactable items onscreen.

There is a control panel setting that toggles the highlight on/off.

And the Vial isn't necessary, either.
