Just bought this game a couple of days ago. Got to Chapter II yesterday.
There seems to be little "linear" quest lines that you can just do. You've got to do parts of other quests to keep up but what is most frustrating is that I seem to always get to a point where (a) I chose the wrong option and then miss out on part of a quest (like with the messenger in the inn) or (b) a time factor where you can't do any quests in the night time hours or they have to be done at night so I spend hours just standing around waiting for time to pass (or meditating away days on end).
Any suggestions to clean this up any (assuming I'm doing it wrong)?
Kind of frustrating

(a) It doesn't matter what you choice right or not. If you fail a question ,
It only means you lose chance to get more experience points.
If you have habitual behavior of earing more experience points ,then you should read the workthrough before you play.
You can plan a strategical way to finish questions well-regulated.
(b)You don't have to stand there wait for sunset or sunrise.
you can find any inn, talk to the innkeeper or waitress, it will appear a option about "do you have a room", then you can rest. (cost 5 gold)
or You can find a campfire ,just click it to rest. (you must have a flint)
When you in rest mode, you can adjust how many hour you want to rest.
there is a bar in the bottom of the rest screen , you can adjust hours to rest.
BTW, Different choice means how you build your character. a traditional witcher? or a humanity witcher.

I try to talk to everyone in town first and accumulate as many quests as possible before I attempt to finish any of them. Then, I just do all the nighttime ones at once, then all the daytime ones (or just the ones that require me to go to the swamp forest at one time, etc.). Just general grouping like that helps. Meditating is a time to make potions anyways, so if you have a quest that has to wait until the next night just meditate until then. It's not like you lose out on anything sleeping longer.
As far as quests that have multiple parts that can be resolved in different ways, well, "pure" roleplaying would be just be to explore the game and if you miss out on something, well that's just the way it plays out. You can always play it again and make different choices. Coleman's murder at the inn is one of the few one-sided results the game throws at you - there aren't really "wrong" options other than that - you will almost always find yourself getting some kind of reward but also some kind of downside to whatever way you solve quests.

Thanks, i didn't even know i can start a fire on the campfire via Igni sign...:speech:GoldDragon wrote:b. After a certain point in Chapter 1 (Outskirts), you can get the Igni sign. This negates half the need for Flint (you won't be able to use this sign in certain circumstances), as well as giving another decent magical weapon.
i will try it next time when encounter danger.
I also saw some NPC can light up the campfire , then we can use it free~

hehe! Learn something new, eh? Good.
Circumstances that forbid the usage of Igni to light Campfires:
Within the City, in Daytime. (really only applies to the Temple, as I don't think there are any campfires in the Trade qtr). Night-time is different.
WIthin the Outskirts, under the Open Sky, in Daytime.
Basically, anytime you can't draw your sword, you can't use Igni.
