Eschalon

Has anybody here played it? What do you think about it?
I'm looking for an RPG with complex mechanics, a decent story and customisable characters. The demo did appeal to me, but was way too short.

Thanks in advance!

I played and reviewed it, for GameBanshee. The mechanics are unimaginative, the NPCs and quests dull, the game appearance highly attractive, the whole thing put together professionally.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Did you have the impression that every "class" was more or less equal?

Hell if I remember, to be honest. The game did not leave a lasting impression on me, as you can tell, other than the earnestness of the developer and the visual quality he achieved. My apologies; perhaps somebody else can contribute on this point.

"More than less" might answer your question.

A solid generic "old school" hack-n-slash rpg without major bugs.
Lots of walking. Lots of random level-scaled loot. Cartography skill is a nice touch.

Overall, it's worth playing once or even twice if you are nostalgic.
Actually, I am looking forward to Eschalon 2 which is expected to have an enhanced gameplay.
