How many lightsabers and how to upgrade?

ok so to my knowledge you can only create a lightsaber ONCE and the rest you get by finding..sorry I dont have my star wars kotor 2 yet (its still being shipped) so how would I upgrade my lightsaber (the one i make) do I just get the parts (emitters, cells, crystals, etc) and then use a workbench to put them onto my lightsaber? i don't get it..the 1st lightsaber what are the parts needed to make it? do I get to replace these parts with better parts later on? =l....

The building of ur initial lightsaber is like a quest. Hence you will get saber parts that really dont have anything to do with the saber's final stats. What this means is when you have finally collected all 3 parts required to build a saber, the one which finally gets built comes with a clean slate and default stats. So, the crystals and upgrade parts, i.e. emitter, cell, can be added later on at will, provided you have enough components or money to build those parts.
