Help! my Stuff is gone!!

Post by bablee1 »

I am not sure If I need the 4 books to do the Dagon Shrine quest. I had them until I installed SI. I have been using the same spot, to leave things I can't carry around, for over a month without a problem. I installed SI and went back to pick up a few things. All gone to my shock! I am hoping I don't need book #4. If I do need the book is there a way around this?? Thanks for any help. :(

You left things where? Where did you place them? On the ground? In a box in the Market District?

I left them on the ground because I know not to put them in containers. It was around the entrance to a mine that I kept going back to. The items were there everytime I returned until I installed SI. The only one I am really concerned about is the volume 4 book for the quest Dagon Shrine. I put off doing the quest until I could get better armor and a few lvls. When I read about the quest it wasn't clear to me if I needed the book to enter into the lake Arrius Caverns or complete that part. Can I do the quest without the book?? I appreciate your help as always. :)

As long as you've visited the the tomb in Green Emperor Way and spawned the map marker for Lake Arrius Caverns you should be fine. The book is needed to trigger the map on that tomb and isn't needed thereafter.

Sacks like these are safe to use in the vanilla (un-modded) game. These two sacks are in the basement of theChorrol Mages guild and I usually use them as my stash. If I'm not running the Frostcrag plugin I always store my alchemy equipment and ingredients in one of them.

I wouldn't trust the torn ones though (the ones that have a single ingredient inside rather than 5), I think at least some of them respawn.

I haven't come across a mod that makes the un-torn sacks respawn, but it is possible I guess, so there is that to keep in mind.

Thats good to know. What about the chests in the house I just bought? If I remember correctly they were not safe in the old morrowind game. I just left everything on the floor of the house. I did lose alot of alchemy stuff but that can be replaced. I also lost the alchemy aquipment but found out I can take new ones from the mages guild without getting arrested. LOL like the old Morrowind. Being female I had a few pretty dresses but don't really anticipate getting to wear them so no real loss there. The books for the quest were my concern but after you explained to me that I don't need, them all is well. I did find the location for the quest and it is on my map so I'm cool there.
As far as sacks I have seen those but do not know what the vanilia (unmodded) term means. Sorry but I have much to learn about terms and mods etc. I noticed one for horse armor and wondered if it is a good one.
Well I have taken up too much of you time so far but I would have been lost without the help. Thank you again and I'm sure you will be seeing me around. LOLOL!! :D  :D

Chests and closets in your purchased houses are perfectly safe for storage... in fact that is the main reason i bother buying a house at all. To keep my war trophies and other collectibles. I collect wine too! :o

Vanilla or an unmodded game means that u play the original Oblivion without any add-ons or mods. Though in this case i think Galraen is referring to mods that might change game mechanics pertaining to items spawning in the sacks he told you about.

There's no black soul gems or monks involved with the Dagon Shrine quest, are you actually talking about this quest?

If you are you don't have to wait, see the spoiler in the second post in this thread.
