Fallout 1 Death Help!!

I'm having trouble playing Fallout 1. Right now I'm stuck in Junktown. Whenever I try to travel to the Hub or anywhere else, I instantly die and is sent to the game over screen. Also, while in Junktown I'm doing the mission to help Lars and the guards kill the Skull Gang and everytime I talk to Lars and accept to help the Junktown guards against the Skull Gang, I also instantly die and is sent to the game over screen(with the bones in the desert and audio commentary). What can I do to stop this? Do I have to start a new game? When I visit the doctor in Junktown he says that I'm perfectly healthy. My HP is also maxed. Oh yeah, above the bottom left screen is a marker that says "Addict". Does this has anything to do with it? If so, what do I do? Please help me a.s.a.p.!

You can die from an addiction to drugs, like your character has. I always steered clear from them, so I can't offer any real advice. As far as I know, dieing from it is random, so saving, passing the time untill you "break" the addiction should work.

I took your advice and tried to wait out until the addiction was gone, but I keep dying everytime I try to wait. There must be some type of solution or else the game designers with Interplay wouldn't have done this, right? I just hope I don't have to start a new game, because if so I'll be pissed. So far I have Ian, Tycho, and Dogmeat! I don't want to do all those missions over again!

Do you still die if you keep on using the drug you're addicted to ?
If you're addicted to a drug and don't take it your stats decrease, maybe one goes down to 0 and therefore you die.
What are your character stats ?

Okay! That's what the problem must be. I'm addicted to something and when I created the character, I have my endurance at 1. My luck is also at 1. I have 2 other specials at 1, but I forgot which ones. I just decided to start a new game and I just made it back to where I was and I'm not addicted to anything...so!

If it's your first time playing the game better don't create a character with 1 endurance. 1 luck or charisma won't hurt much, 1 perception is bearable if you only do melee, but don't dump the other stats that low unless you know exactly what you're doing.
