So after finishing the game with my favorite clans, I went for the cheats version with a female Brujah. But when I hit the ~ for the box to appear and then hit the button again even without typing anything, the game just freezes. I get the mouse cursor, the music running, but I cannot do anything. Yet the task manager shows that the game is still running when I hit ctrl-alt-del.
The box worked before, but I only used the Johansen cheat to get on with the game since it would always crash in that part. It never froze up like it does now and it can't possibly be a problem with Vista, right? I'm quite reluctant to install any patches in fear of messing up the game completely (a friend installed it for me via DaemonTools), though I'm not sure which ones or if any at all I have installed.
Another thing, when I want to edit the "Histories" part, it always want to save the document in NotePad and I'm not sure if it would work since the original format is different. Could someone please help me with at least one of these things?
Game Freeze - help please?
As for your histories issue.. histories were not included with the original game. They were restored by Wesp with the Unofficial Patch. So if you are seeing histories, then you have some version of Wesp's unofficial patch installed.
In general, if you install any other mods on top of Wesp's patch, you will likely see issues. Generally mods are not compatible with other mods or unofficial patches. If you mess with any of the system files, (like the histories) then you do so at your own risk.
In contrast, (most) skins are compatible. There are a few "skins" out there that edit clandoc000.txt that are actually mods and will break other patches or mods, but most skins are simply model and texture files and so they wont mess up any mods you have installed. For example the skins on my mod's sight are mod-safe. (search for VTMB CompMod).

On US keyboards, that's the mark directly to the left of the 1 above your alphabet, with the SHIFT key held down.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
If the first thing doesn't work or you forgot the second, it is always possible to enter "chareditor" and thus continue from that page back into the game...Dheu wrote:Use the tilda to open AND close the window.
