Can't run IWD or IWDII; help please:S

Post by maggen82 »

Just bought the game and installed it on my laptop (using Vista and my gfx card is NVIDIA Geforce 9600M GT). IWD won't run at all, it just goes back to the desktop and the following error appears: "An assertion failed in ChVIC controls.cpp at line number 7525". When I attempt to run IWDII I get to "appearance" in character generation before it shuts down and returns me to the desktop.

I've been trying to find information on this particular set of errors online, but to no avail. Any help would be most welcome!

This thread can sometimes help when it comes to using newer NVIDIA cards with Infinity Engine games... It might be worth checking out.

Your problems could also stem from Vista though, I gather that it can be difficult to get older games running on it.
Wish I could help you there, but I use XP.
