Dantooine framerate bug

Post by IhateKrya »

I just bought KOTOR II for my Vista system. I am running the program in classic Windows mode. I keep getting a horrible framerate lag on Dantooine (it basically stops working), and none of the help from Lucasarts helps me fix the bug despite their having a specific fix for this. Anyone having similar issues and/or have any advice?

Are you running an ATI graphics card? I've heard their gpus have an issue with game play on dantooine.

In any case, you could always try and set the game to the lowest possible graphics settings, if you havent already. Set the resolution to 800x600, turn off AA and Anistropic filtering too.

Thanks for the help. I will try both options. And yes, it is an ATI card, I have updated the drivers, but it still didn't help. I asked Lucasarts for help, and they said they had not tested the game on Vista...thanks, Lucasarts, for putting it out there in a sea of Vista-run computers!

Hm. Strangely enough I experience the same thing on Ubuntu, it never happened to me on Window XP. It was only the landing map that did it for me though, and even then only when looking at the immediate area at a certain angle. Either re-entering the Ebon Hawk and returning outside fixed it, or I would just march through the low framerate until I reached one of the following maps.

Turn, Turn, Turn...

I have the same problem for Kotor 1 and Kotor 2 on Dantooine. what i do is keep turning my view point to the most smooth angle. it helps to run along the outskirts and to look at the rock walls. Using "z" and "c" to strafe to the side.

Try the Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 and see if it helps.
