Hi... i'm new to the ToEE started it yesterday
First, i don't think this game is all about combat and tactic. I played in Hommlet for about 4 hours and only fought 2 spiders since then. Quite relaxing combat game
I made a 5 man party - fighter, rogue, sorcerer, druid, ranger. They work ok for now. Don't know if i have to hire some NPC or is it possible to get to the temple in 5 man squad?
Now for the serios things. I have a polish version of the game. I installed patch 2 for my version. I assume it's the same as the USA/EN version. Then i instaled temple.dll and added the files in data folder as advised. Now i have two language version, It does not bother me, i hear in polish and read in english no problem. The game works just fine, i don't use quicksve or autosave.
But there are some bugs. In tutorial the game froze in combat after i casted some magic missiles at the zombies. The move bar depleted but the characters didn't switch, no esc, no space bar. Alt+tab to windows :/
Second time i killed that kobolt for the ring, but could not loot him. The body lights up but when i click nothing happens. I could loot the bodies in tutorial, so what's going on? and at last when i click the door of dairy farmer or holten (can't remember) i don't enter the house. Nothing happens :/
any help? i really like the game so it would be great if i could play it
New to the game.. Q's about bugs and game problems...

Hey there, and welcome!
First, the beginning part of the game where you wander around hommlet is a bit misleading. They're easing you into the system, and it become much more combat heavy as you progress, though there is another town later that you also explore. Not sure if you will like the change or not. Most people find Hommlet somewhat boring, at least after the first time through. Lots of running around back and forth. You're right that it's pretty meditative, though.
Your problems:
The looting (and I think the door) problem is the infamous "looting bug" that is supposed to be fixed by temple.dll. That it is still a problem for you may indicate that temple.dll did not get successfully installed, which may be because you're using the Polish version. I could not say for sure. You should probably ask on the forum at http://www.co8.org. There are guys there who know the code of the game very well - they're making a new game themselves! And they're very helpful, if their advice is sometimes technical and hard to follow.
The magic missile freeze could possibly be related to something in temple.dll. If that isn't installed correctly (remember, you have to do more than just put the new .dll file but also add the folders provided in the .zip into your game's data folder). Part of what was done to fix the looting bug causes problems with the magic missile spell, and that's why they also include new code for the spell to be put into the data folder. Often, but not always, magic missile will show that you have -511 missiles to fire, and when you try to shoot them off the game freezes. Sometimes it seems normal but the game freezes.
In short, it's possible your fix is as simple as adding to the data folder. If you did, it may be a language/version issue, and you should consult co8.
Hope that helps.

i'm 99% sure it's because of the language version... i did add the folders as you mention before so it's rather the incompatibility of the versions problem...
yes i get those 511 missiles to fire then it freezez :/ but not always sometimes it works properly :/
the door bug and looting bug also work this way
it's strange but i'm almost sure that i cannot loot the goblin when i choose chaotic good party and when Jay is my contact man :| same with the door
it didn't work with the chaotic good team but on neutral good team it works properly... but then i still can't loot the corpses of fallen NPC's :/
next i discovered i cant complete the mission with Fruella which is connected to the quest involving Marek which is contected to tohe cupids arrow quest... Fruella won't talk to me after i said to her father i will marry her :/
this game would be great if not for the bugs... oh well will have to search for the US version and then properly patch it...

Yeah, it's really too bad Atari forced the designers to put it out before it was ready. They really shot themselves in the foot and everybody lost.
On the bright side, yeah, if you get an english version the patches make it stable and lots of fun.
Sorry you're having trouble with your language version. That's really too bad.

Hello!
I finally made it into the temple level 2, but where can I rest my party without encounters? I'm tired of traveling back to Nulb... Right now I'm killing everything room to room. I want to be sure I'm not missing anything and will be able to finish the game, or is there something rewarding doing these temple-priest quests?

For the most part, the quests just give you XP and guide you to places, which you can get to anyway. Not necessary at all.
The best place to rest in the temple is the stairway that goes from the empty ground floor to the second level (entry is via hidden doors in the hall full of bones).
