Can't get out of first person view

Post by xvillain »

I've run into a weird problem; I was having no trouble with num pad camera angles and editing my cfg file, but today after 2 wks of not playing, I loaded up the game and can't get out of first person at all! I also can't seem to edit my cfg file and the only way to get a 3rd person view of my character is when she has a weapon in her hand (when she sheathes it, or enters a building, it goes back to FPS). I've even tried downloading the 6.3 patch with no avail. Anyone possibly know how to fix this? Can't stand first person view! Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, absolutely love this game!

Well I never used the numbers to change the camera view. However pressing z on your keyboard will switch it between first and third person camera views.

The only time I use third person view is when I need to see something in-game, messing around in an area, or I'm using melee weapons, including fists. Otherwise, I prefer FP view when moving around. It makes it easier to pick things up, pick locks, etc., without having to switch between views, and even may save some frame rate. However, I know there is a mod out there that keeps you mostly in first person view. I don't remember the name offhand, and if you have it, you might want to remove it. Unless this is a problem with the 6.3 patch, somewhere? If that's the only thing you have added to your game, then talk to Wesp about it. Otherwise, go through your mods, and start there.

Maybe. Happened to me at one point, and the gang here helped me out. I use a laptop to play, and I ended up picking up a secondary keyboard. That fixed the problem for me, since the laptop has an incomplete number pad. Just a thought.

There was indeed an older unofficial patch version that made melee fighting first person, but you still could zoom out to third person if you liked to...
