Rogue to Wizard? *Spoilers?

Post by sonny »

Thinking about multi-classing my 5th level Drow Rogue to a Wizard/Sorcerer.
Is it to soon? By that I mean will he retain his rogue skills?
Since I have a Wizard (Diviner) should I make him a Sorcerer?

Thanks
Sonny :) :)
They turned me loose from the nervous hospital. Said I was well.

He'll never loose any of his rogue skills. In IWD2 multiclassing doesn't work like dualclassing in in BG ord IWD1, skills never become inactive. You can even improve your thieving skills further while levelling up as wizard, therefore even 1 single rogue level is enough unless you like sneak attacking a lot.

For sorcerers charisma is the casting stat, unless it's nearly as high as the int stat I don't recommend it, with less than 11 cha sorcerers can't even cast spells.

Male drow have wizard as favored class, so you'll get a 20 percent XP penalty if you switch to sorcerer. I don't know if specialist wizard also counts as favored class for male drow. If that's the case it's worth taking transmuter levels for the extra spell per day, if not you'd better stick to wizard to avoid the XP penalty.

Specialist Wizards count as Wizards for multiclassing penalties.
