Is there any way to fix this?

Post by Benk »

My game froze, my computer reset, and then I got this message when I tried to load that file:

Trying to load a bad form in TES3File::NextForm.

File = quiksave.ess

Offset = 67279

Is there any way to fix this or will I have to start a new game?

I'm just guessing here....
But it sounds to me as though the issue is with your quick save. If you have a regular save (it's actually not recommended to use quick saves), I'd suggest deleting your quick save from your save directory (you might want to back it up to your desktop or somewhere safe first).

Then, try loading the game and see what happens...
Hopefully this works, because even if you need to begin a new game, at least you won't have to reinstall your mods, which is usually an enormous pain in the arse.

You could also try cleaning your save with Wrye Mash and patching your game with the Morrowind Code patch.. No guarantees, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks. I tried to fix the problem by going back to an older save (non-quick save), but that gave a similar error warning.
It wasn't a big problem, because I had already finished the game by that point, I was just exploring some of the other things that I never really take the time to bother with, like really minor quests.

Also, I didn't know that quick saves weren't recommended, is this the reason behind that, or is there another problem I should look out for?

If saves keep overwriting there's a higher chance of corruption. Quicksaves always overwrite. It's best to make a fresh save every now and then. I do it with all games. My fallout 3 saves are in the thousands for just one character.
