Questions about my new party.

Post by mahamutt »

Hi all!

I´m planning on going with bard (blade) next game. But I also want very much to have Keto in my party. Does it Will weak my party?

I havent already chosen the other 4 members, but I know I´ll need a thief, a mage, some tanks and at least one cleric/druid.
Any advice would be welcome. :)

*sorry for the english. I´m not native english speaker.

It's been said often before, but...

there is no such thing as a bad party in SoA. You can win with any combination, up to and including 6 thieves. The only things that change are the difficulty required to win, and the strategies you employ.

Keto is in my opinion a very good choice for a party. Definitely not for a powergamer, she nonetheless is a finely developed character who can be used to bolster a group in a number of given ways: magic, music, and ranged attacks.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

As Fable said, there are no 'bad' parties. Any character combination can beat the game on normal or core rules(perhaps vanilla insanity too) with impunity. There are ideal groups, such as groups that balance fighting ability with casting and thievery, but they are by no means necessary to beat the game.

So take whatever NPC you want. No matter how weak your party composition is, the game is 100% beatable with virtually every setup.

It's much more important to pick party members that get on, or have good 'banter'. That's why I've D'loaded the Banter Pack.

I know that on my early runs through SOA-TOB I concentrated way too much on NPC's stats and brute force, which really made TOB pretty hard. I agree with the others it really doesn't matter who you take because any group can beat the game.

Aerie and Haer'Dilas are probably two of the most powerful NPC's and I thought they were useless the first 10 times I played the game.
:) Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL :)

Yes. I agree with you. :)
That´s why Keto is one of my favorite NPCs.
Well.. She also has good banters with Haer´Dalis.

Maybe I´ll try a party with PC (blade), Keto, Haer´Dalis, Aerie, Jan and Jaheira.
Not powerfull, but probably very fun. :D

They would be very powerful actually. I think it would be loads of fun with that group, banter pack and you might as well install the flirt pack if your going to romance either Jaheira or Aerie.

If you want a party that will maximize interaction and commentary throughout the game, especially with the Banter Pack installed, it would go something like this:

You
Jaheira
Anomen
Jan
Minsc(maybe Haer'Dalis)
Yoshimo

It's actually a pretty typical party, but it seems to have a ton of party interaction and character commentary throughout quests.
