Blood Buff

Post by Mythos1092 »

I just installed the Unofficial Patch 6.3 (the plus version) and made a new character as a Tremere. I noticed two things about blood buff: first, it seems like it costs WAY more (although it's possible I'm just remembering wrong) and second, it only gives a bonus of 2 to my physical attributes instead of 5. I've got a couple of questions about that. Is it just because I'm a Tremere and it was there even without the patch, was it given to Tremere by the patch, or was it weakened for everyone by the patch? Unless it's just thanks to the normal game, why does the unofficial patch make blood buff so damn weak? It basically makes lockpicking impossible early on in the game. I'm considering just cheating to raise my security skill, I can't lockpick anything. Oh, and something else: does Blood Strike get stronger ever? Considering how it does 7 damage now, it'll be completely useless later on. It's practically useless now.

I'm curently playing a Malkavian and I have the same Blood Buff as you, though lockpicking isn't a problem. Just have your dexterity at three and rely on books. This change affects everyone, otherwise Blood Buff was too imbalanced and made it unnecessary to put points into certain skills or attributes.

This was done because Blood Buff made melee too easy at the beginning of the game and made no sense later because it didn't stack.

I don't think I changed the damage of Blood Strike and it's damage without blood loss...

So Blood Strike is always going to be doing 7 damage, for the entire game? What's the point of playing a Tremere if their special discipline is pathetically weak?

Blood Strike is only the first level Thaumaturgy discipline, you get much more powerful ones later on...

Well, that's arguable as following that you have:
An area of effect disable,
A defensive discipline,
A situational cone shaped discipline,
An area of effect damage discipline.

Relying on Blood Salvo and Blood Boil is rather costly and situational, but the wonder of Blood Strike is that you can literally spam it, and if I'm correct, it can fire faster than anything (or almost anything) that you can wield.
