When entering a building in Thirsk I get an error message saying the game can't load A_Bear_Skin_f.nif. I checked where it's supposed to be, under Meshes\a\ and it isn't there. It's nowhere else in my Meshes folder either, or anywhere else on my hard disk.
I can't determine if it's part of a mod that wasn't put in the right place or that maybe it's part of vanilla Bloodmoon meshes that was maybe deleted by a mod.
Does anyone know a solution to this? Can I maybe recover that missing nif file somewhere? I've done some googling first, of course, but I couldn't find anything that helps.

Maybe if you posted the precise name of the missing mesh, those of us with the game installed could check to see if we have it and then send it to you?
Thing is.. I have a lot of mesh and texture replacers, so I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to help. It's worth a shot though.

Meshes\a\A_Bear_Skin_f.nif is what the game - and I - can't find. Is that what you mean? I'm not sure how to be more specific.
It's supposed to be worn by one Olfeigr the Fair in the Mead Hall in Thirsk. I'm mentioning this because I made a quick run to the Skaal village but I can't find anymore of those errors. Is Ollie the only one wearing this bearskin thingie? He's no one special, just filler for the Mead Hall.
Please tell me my game isn't broken! Please, help me... else I'll be forced to play... Oblivion(=shudder=)!

OK, the name you provided looks fine. I just checked my Mesh folders though and I can't see it..
I can take another look later, or maybe somebody else will have it.
I'm wondering though, given that I don't appear to have it and my game is running fine, if it is mod related.
You might try the tedious process of disabling your mods one by one, perhaps you'll find a culprit that way. Perhaps also, post a list of your mods, it might help in narrowing things down.

You won't find it because all the meshes and textures are in BSA archives. The game can open these but without the right software you cannot. The only meshes in the folders are mod related ones and replacers. The filing system is the same in and out of the archive. It checks the folders first, then the archive. I'll have a look around for you but it might take some time as opening the archive takes ages on my computer.

If you have BSA archives that were not properly unpacked when you dearchived your mods, you may need a tool for this. Try Ghostwheel's BSA Pack. Just unpack it to the data directory, and run the executable to see if there are any BSA archives there. If so, click to unpack them, and see if you can load the program.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I did as you suggested, Fable, but no luck.
I killed Ollie so I could look at her inventory to see what this Bearskinthing was. It's just a Bear Cuirass like many others but the 'f' at the end means it's a female version. Is that from unmodded MW? Could I maybe replace or delete it somehow using the construction set (which I've hardly ever opened and wouldn't know how to use even if it meant peace on earth)?

This is how I solved it: I copied another nif file (another piece of armor made for women), renamed it 'A_Bear_Skin_f.nif' and put it in the right directory. Works fine, except there are now some female Nord warriors wearing Japanese looking cuirasses
It was so easy, I'll go celebrate by changing all Ordinator armor into Hawaian shirts.
Thanks for all of your input, though.
