help for bgt-weidu

Post by ligayaguza »

Does anyone know how to bring NPC in BG1 to BGII in BGT-weidu mod? After I talked with Belt and waked in Amn, their are only old members like Minsc and the half-elf are in cages. Where is my party member like Viconia or Coran?

Unfortunately most of the NPCs available in BG1 aren't available in BG2. Viconia is, look for he in the Government district, but you'll have to fight for her.

Coran has a very brief cameo appearance very late in the game but isn't recruitable.

BG 1 members that are available:

Jaheira, Minsc, Imoen, Viconia and Edwin.

There are some mods that allow you to use a few of the original NPCs, they can be found via Pocket Plane among others.

The bad way that they handled the transition from BG1 to BG2 annoyed me when I first got the game too, none of my party from the first part of the game where available, including Coran.

I always wished you could pick the two NPC's in the cages with you and the dead one on the table. I understand Imoen has to be there for plot reasons but Minsc, Jaheira and Khalid would hav ebeen the PC's choice. And if your going to put Coran, Xzar and Montoran anywhere in the game they shpould be joinable period.
:) Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL :)

I don't, there is obviously a chance of her being killed in BG1 (amongst others), all Biware had to do was have the programme check your gamesave to see who was in the party and which ones where dead (the global Sprite_Is_DeadImoen is a bit of a giveaway that Immy shouldn't appear in BG2 for example!). Any female NPC in the original game should have been able to slot into the Imoen or Jaheira role, just some extra voice overs is all that was needed. Any male NPC coulkd have replaced Minsc, let's face it he brings absolutely nothing plotwise to BG2 anyway. Edwin could also have easily been replaced too, the more difficult one would have been Viconia, but if she died in BG1 just leave her out!

The soddyness of the transition is the reason the game stayed on the shelf in my romm for so long, until I was given a free copy of ToB in fact. I probably never would have played the game again had that not happened. Which would have been a real shame.

Imoen is escencial to the plot because no other NPC would interest Irenicus as far as his experiments and the need that both he and Bhodi have .......

Not if she's dead, and anyone could be a child of Bhaal, including all the NPCs.

I'm not sure I would buy one of the other NPC's from BG being a Bhaal kid, Imoen was obviously also sheltered in candlekeep and Gorian knew what she was but other than her and PC you don't run into another Bhaal Kid the whole series that doesn't seem like they always kn ew what they were. I agree the whole transition is handled poorly and I remember being really mad about losing all of my equipement.
Here's a thought, say Imoen died or you didn't take her with you, the game could go with a fill in Bhaal kid of the oposite sex from PC that was also captured by Irenicus and needs your help to escape so she unlocks your cage. Plot plays out the same except that when you get he/she back they would be romancable and depending on a variety of factors may or may not turn/challange you at the very end. That would be interesting.
Overall your right way to many easy viable options that would have made sense to start BGII but instead we're stuck with one that forced some one to make a mod just to skip the begginning.
