Kikimore Queen *spoiler*

Post by Vhailin »

OK, so I read the walkthrough on this and it seemed to make sense. I drank a blizzard and tawny owl so I have plenty of endurance and am running relatively fast. I get the short sequence where the queen chases me, so I run down the corridor, knocking down the pillars as I go (kikimores scatter). I get to the main chamber and go into the exit corridor, where I turn around and drop the ceiling. Then I run to the back of the corridor (as far as it will let me) to await the queens death. I get the quest update that she is dead... then my vitality drops to zero and I die. I know it is the ceiling falling on me, but I am as far away as possible (I searched the forum and this was the last bit of advise in the thread). There is nowhere else to go. After 4 times of getting to this point I am at a loss as to what I'm doing wrong. How do I not get crushed by the ceiling? btw, I have version 1.5.

Have you tried not running away from the final beam that you knock down? Maybe that's the one safe place to be.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

Are you saying that there is some "sweet spot" to stand, because the first time I made it past the main cavern, I did stand just beyond the columns in the entryway of the corridor, and died. That's when I did the search to see if I overlooked something. I've even tried using the Quen sign to prevent damage, but to no avail. Obviously people have gotten past this, even in version 1.5, but I can't figure out where to go (in my first 5 attempts I stood: in the entryway, next to the crate, at the back twice, and close to the back but not quite all the way). Now, there is some stone blocking the end of the exit corridor, but I can't get past it or knock it down.

The way I usually get to do it is this:

Drink the potions, and run down to the main cavern. Then knock down the Support struts, and run down the side passage (not the one you entered the cavern from) all the way.

ANd once you get the stuff off the Queen, the stone that blocks the exit will get removed.

whitetail had this same problem a while back - no matter far away he escaped from the large room, the ceiling would "fall" on his head and kill him when the queen died. I've never experienced it but it's starting to sound to me like a random bug - he just kept trying and eventually he didn't die. No tricks, no special spot to stand at, just keep trying, is all I can offer.

Great! I've now tried it at least a dozen times and still die. I've never had to ask this before, but I may need someone to get me past this part, either with a cheat code or to play me past. Any takers?

You might be able to mark the quest 'completed' with the Witcher save editor. I don't know if that would work though. I could try it - check your PM's.

It took me a solid ten tries to get past that part. I can't remember if I stayed close or ran farther away....there's a sweet spot somewhere, just keep trying and it will eventually work.

Queen

Boy does this bring back memories.
I think that the program wants you to spend enough energy and kill little guys.
I now buzz though chamber and spin around spend as much time as I can fighting her followers .
I have done this tactic 2 times and then hit the support and ran
So far it has worked every time. It appears if you accomplish to fast you die auto. :D

Just curious whitetail: did you have a blizzard potion running all those times the ceiling kept "falling" on your head and killing you? If so, we may have a reason that bug happens, since Vhailin was using a blizzard potion, and the first try without blizzard, Geralt got through just fine.

since I am there again, i'll try the killing followers thing. i had hoped it was just a one-time thing, but i auto died both times i've tried it. if that doesn't work I may need someone to get me through again. if it doesn't work it means it will be the last time I play the OC, it's just too irritating to bother with again.

I'm really curious about this too, Vhailin, when I played your save last time there were no Kikimores around, just the queen in a completely empty room. How did you manage this? I thought the kikimores just spawned endlessly until you killed the queen.

when i dropped the last support in the corridor all the lesser kikimores disappeared, then i ran to the exit corridor and saved before the queen got too close to prevent saving. i was hoping that i could figure out a solution without having to do the whole run again, as it was getting old after the first dozen attempts. but it didn't work, obviously. i thought i had sent you the save from the queens lair, but i guess i was that later one.

I've only had two problems with the queen: 1) Her followers block me from making it to the big final chamber and the queen gets me in the hall. I'll have to try vhallin's trick of hitting the support beam to make them disappear. 2) I hit a support beam in the hallway (completely unneccessary) and the queen gets stuck in the hallway.

OK, so I've finally had some time to play and see if I can get past this spot. I tried running straight through and only hitting the main support in the large room, dead. I tried waiting for the queen to drop the supports on her head, dead. I tried blocking her with the mid-hallway support so I could kill underlings, as whitetail suggested, dead. I even tried holding her back with the trap sign, but it's not strong enough and she killed me. Basically, I've tried everything I can think of and still died every time. I think this is a bug, pardon the pun. So, would someone be so kind as to get me past this?

k Queen

I never use blizzad in this senario.
I buff with full moon med. 2 hrs. to reduce tox then take a petri.
Those combos give you the highest red and gives you 50% more on your signs to make sure you have power to knock down beams especialy when she gets close.
When you get into exit hall say up front and fight for as long as possible .
Then when shes in sight Blow the beams but dont let her get to close .
If you do then she does not get totaly covered with beams .
You only have a few seconds to kill her or you will die first regarless where you are at least that has been my long learned lesson :D
