Laggs, especially during combat casting

Post by Bescheid »

Hi, my computer is a Pentium M 2.00GHz with 1,00 GB RAM. With an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 grafic card and Windows XP Home Ed.

Im playing the game with things set to max (Under Hardware set to "Maximum PC") with 3d on and resolution 1024x768 (but its the same with 800x600).

But the game is lagging quite much, the system should have no problem handling this should it? In combat situations especially during spellcasting the game becomes nearly unplayable.

Someone has any advice?

thx //Gustav

Does it help on the lag if you turn down the settings?
Because if not, it might be a driver issue or conflicting software.

The specs should be able to handle it yes - but still, it isn't a guarantee as the game is old and doesn't automatically scale perfectly with newer hardware.
I'd try to remove some of the reflective settings and perhaps shadows to see if that helps.

Some mods may cause laggs. Example : "Icewind Dale Casting Graphics" (from G3 tweaks). BG2 started lagging for me after i instaled this one - even tho my PC is 'high-end'

If you have any graphic improving mods, those MIGHT be the reason for your lagg.
