Video glitches and pops

Post by Kahn »

Running on a Geforce 64MB DDR card.
Latest NVidia drivers, video drivers, dx 8.1, win2k pro sp2

Whenever looking at multiplayer selction screen, or NPC text for that matter, the graphics pop and artifact all over the screen.

Only reason I'm writing this is I saw the same problem on my work machine that was running same config as above except for the use of a GeForce3 Quadra DCC card.

Anyone else seeing this?

Not a lot of support out there yet.

Launch the dam site already.

Thanks,

Khan

run DSVideoConfig.exe in your DS folder. Under the Display driver choose Primary display driver - Hardware (not hardware TnL). It worked for me ...

That seemed to do the trick.

Turn off the T&L and all works great.

what is the TnL?

TnL stands for "Transform and Lighting"

In a nutshell, if the Hardware TnL on the NVIDIA GPU is taken advantage of, the Vid Card does some of the work that is normally done by the CPU. When the GPU accepts all this load that is dedicated to "showing you what you see on your monitor" the CPU has more time to calculate Artificial Intelligence and other needed functions that make the game work properly. So if programmers of the games you play, code with the TnL in mind, it is highly possible that your game will run better and faster on a GeForce or GeForce2 based card. If TnL was not taken into account when the game engine was put together, it is possible that no performance increase will be seen.
