The first spot you can sell all u're stuff is in Stonebridge, which means u'll have to leave behind like 1/2 to 3/4 of u're stuff.
You can get another 2 characters in Stonebridge however so keep u're cool stuff and scrap all the junk items.
This game wasn't made for packrats like you and I... I noticed that WAY in the beginning. When you get to town though you can either buy mule to haul alot of weight (takes the place of a character slot I think) or what you can do is train u're nature magic skill up a little (if even needed) and buy the transmute spell then when you come across items you don't want and will never use you can transmute them to gold. You can't use the spell on potions though.
I just got the game lastnight and have heard alot of ppl talking about the BAD AI on this game when it comes to controlling other characters so I think I'm going to just stick to one guy.
Also, if you form a party or add a few others and leave them in town it makes the monsters have more HP thus giving you more increases in skills per kill.
I haven't figured out if I want STR/INT or DEX/INT
Basically a fighter/cleric or ranger/cleric
Any help from others would be nice

I LUV the fact that you can solo play also
I'm DYING to try that.
Less times I have to pause it to make a strategy for my party and more time to play the game and enjoy all the beautiful graphics
One guy said he was playing solo and it sounded like he was FAR into the game, hope I have the same luck.
If you decide to solo the game also I have to suggest STR/INT...Melee/nature though. You do get a nice staff that sucks melee also. Well, at least I did. I'm not sure if the drop system is like diablo though and totally random or a little randomness but ALOT of items that do drop at certain places.
The reason I chose STR/INT and not DEX/INT is cause alot of nice weapons/armor/shields require high STR which it looks like you only get from meleeing.
You can also hit them with that lightning spell from afar and switch over to u're melee weapon when they get close

Solo is possible and fun, but its alot easier with a group. two healer/nukers and two hitters will run through ds at an obscene rate on normal. Solo play usually involves both heavy potion use and/or a great pair of running shoes.
When dealing with inventory in solo play i say transmute any and everthing you don't/can't wear. Fill bigger partially used potion bottles with smaller ones and carry a few spell books (spells are great cash to vendors later on).
Solo'n a nature mage through single player and i've found that pack mules are a bad idea. You'll have to run too many times to have to worry about them tag'n along and get'n beat down when you run or get ambushed.

I'm soloing right now and I LUV it. It's VERY ez as long as you don't run in rooms like Rambo.
OMG, it was SOOOOOOOOOO cool earlier today. I was in that spider dungeon solo and I had dealt with only a few monsters at a time and when I was in the center of a bigroom with sewer holes on the side everything came after me. OMG, big spiders came at me first outta the holes followed by yellow spiders coming outta EVERYWHERE. After checking my pants I tore all those spiders up. No running, no kiting, just went head on with must have been minimum of 20 spiders. I only went through a few potions and the rest I spell healed myself with.
I'd say soloing is CAKE as long as you specialize well.
I'm kindof sad cause I'll never see the effects of the combat magic spells but I LUV nature magic. When I login I just cast that shield on myself as much as I can in a row before having 0 mana and the time stacks so I get like an hour that I can cruise around and have the shield on me. I just made 7th on nature though so I'm going to leave the dungeon and go back to town and buy the killer gerbal or whatever spell that is so I can have a pet.
Honestly, I can't even imagine having a full party in that dungeon cause they HOARD you and with alot of others that just means each one has more HP
Right now I'm melee 7, range 5 (+1 with item), nature 7, and plain nothing with combat magic.
I do suggest though buying nature spells in town but u'll find PLENTY of combat magic spells.
I must say that I'm having NOTHING but FUN with this game. Yea, it may have less story than alot of people want but everything else is GREAT.
It's SWEET cause you never know what's gonna happen, they throw ALOT of surprises at you. If you have a party I suggest you be ready 24/7.
I also LUV soloing cause I can pay more attention to details and not where my party is and what they're doing so much. Whoever set the encounters up did a FANTASTIC job. It's SOOOOOOOOOOO much unlike Diablo and other D&D in this way. You know know what's in store for you. You think you clear an area and on u're next step stuff comes at you from places that you thought were just put there for graphic detail.
I entered this on room and walked on a grail in the floor and it flew open and spiders came up out of it to get me. Now, if you tell me that's not great programmingin a game then u're nuts
