Smass: I did mention something about budgetary matters aside, and I don't recall saying I was an RPG fan. I would much rather play a good RTS game, but I am open to all genres.
It is nice to know that I can count on you to represent the majority of Banshee members.
Should I buy this game?

LOL - Seriously - just giving my opinion, from a RPG fan point of view - I certainly can't speak for gamebanshee members - but seeing as 100% of the games covered here are RPGs (with the notable exception of Dungeon Seige) I think its safe to assume that a good percentage of Gamebanshee members are therefore fans of the RPG genre.
The member who started this thread was looking for opinions on buying the game or not. I did not enjoy the game - others did - my main dissappointment with the game, and the message that I was trying to convey, was that DS is advertised as an RPG, and it is not.

BestBuy has it this week on add for $35 I think... I may be wrong it may have been $39.99 but I got it from Compusa for $35 cause I told them BestBuy had it on sale for $35 at least.
I just got it lastnight but I am VERY impressed with it, and I HATE diablo
The graphics are SUPREME
I had major lock problems at the beginning but that cause I had alot of stuff that wasn't on my taskbar taking up like almost 20% of my 640 ram and it wasn't liking that at all
But after I dumped all my running programs it was great. It is a little FAST though, but you can pause it and I think slow it down.
I do hope when they make the next one they increase the AI alot but other than that I have no real complaints.

Which Multiplayer?! lol
I think there are some important game realities in DS which you should consider before you buy it. Earlier on in this thread it was said that DS was designed with multiplayer in mind and that you shouldnt buy it if you are looking for replayability and single player ,well the replay value is realy low that right but....
Me and friends bought the game in order to play it over the net as a 3 player group. The thing is that DS was probably thrown on the market before the multiplayer was complete or something.
You cannot recruit any NPCs in multiplayer?! You cannot use the packmules in Multi ?! You cannot save unless you reach a town and that with dungeons so big and outstretched that it can take ages to explore them?!
What is this??!!
Especially the bad lag in multiplayer which as we read in forums isnt something only us 3 experienced spoiled even the last bit of fun out of playing multi, and that with a dsl and 2 uni net connections (faster than dsl).
Well its a nice Hack and Slash game with some rpg stuff added and we ended up enjoying the single player lol. BUT dont buy it with multiplayer in mind, unless the patch the whole multi-section upside down it will be impractical to play.

OK, when the DS trailer firwst came out I watched it and was like, OMG this is like Darkstone but better. But since Darkstone, I've finished BG numerous times(all solo) and IWD once(two man party). I've also played Diablo I and II and didn't like either of them. Basically what I'm looking for is a compare and contrast between DS and Darkstone, BG, IWD, and the Diablo games. If anyone feels up to it I'd appreciate it greatly. Also there was someone bashing Darkstone early on in this thread, and this game was the best $10 I ever spent on a game.

@Skuld, there was no Darkstone-bashing. If you'll read back, you'll see that one poster claimed DS a "Darkstone knockoff." That's as close to bashing as it got.
You might want to check out Morrowind. It's just gone gold today, and should be out in a week. Different kind of game, really: a first-person CRPG--but still, it's got incredible graphics, and a remarkable in-depth experience. I think it has the potential to claim both the RPG and action audiences in a way that Ultima Ascension tried to do, without having the product to justify the attempt.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
