i noticed something intresting.
i finished the game on the single palyer.
my main charcter focusing on mele (51 mele skill and 42 strength).
i exported my game to the multiplayer and than i though i put some focus on combat magic, as it was only level 1 - and with my high health and armor rate i could wistand lot of time before i was seriously hit by the monsters in the first part of the game.
well, my combat magic advanced just well, as it was low level, using it to kill low level monster caused it to adavance just fine,
the only problem was that my intelegince was not improving what so ever.
after rasing from skill 1 to 20 in combat magic, my int never rose in 1 point.
while, when i started to re-use my melee weapons, my stat started to raise normaly - my str got rasied and also my dex and int in minor way that was noticiable by the green bar indicator when i open my charcater sheet.
it seem that the game was made so that your stat would raise normally only when u use your best area of exp. (in my case melee) so that ppl would not create all too powerfull charcter.
even though the skill get better just fine, it is mostly pointless to try and improve it after certian level - in my case, after i got level 25 in combat magic, further advance was very hard, since i had verly low mana avialable, so it was almost impossible to do a battle with the ever stornger creature i needed to fight to improve my skill - as i ran out of mana after casting few fireballs.
and i guess the same would go for range weapon, as low dex skill will prevnet the use of a good bow.
exp. theroy - check me out

if you want to raise two classes (and keep them useful) you have to rase both simultaneously keeping them within about 5-10 points from eachother, otherwise your secondary stat will lag behind
