Ok i wanna play Daiblo II online. I dont have the expansion do i need to get that? Also if i play i play on battle net right? So do i have to pay for the accounts there or is it free?
Secondly do i have to have characters on battlenet or can i use the ones on my HD?
Thirdly any helps or tips. Like what to be weary of and what is a good idea. Oh yeah can anybody explain how Battlenet Diablo works? Is it like DAOC? Or say Argyle? Ie that there many people on line on one server, which holds many different lands and areas and people walk around killing, trading, stealing etc etc. ie is it like a real world or they are private games that people walk around a la BG mp?
Fourthly anybody willing to give me a tour on Battlenet when i can make it?

If you buy the game you also buy access to battle.net, so as long as you don't cheat on their servers (and get caught) you won't have to pay one dime more. You don't HAVE to get the expansion, but I would recommend it. It's an almost completely different game with it.
You can use your HD characters in open battle.net games. However very few ppl play on these servers and the ones who do have cheat characters with unbelivable scores. On closed battle.net games you can't use your local chars, but you can also be sure that there are no "created" characters.
When playing you can either join games or create games of your own. There's a max of 8 players per game. Each "world" is randomly (kinda anyways) generated each time you or someone else create a new game. I suppose it's kinda like a BG2 mp but alot faster. I don't really know how to explain it, try it and you'll hopefully see what I mean.
As for a tour, you can contact me via msn whenever you feel like it and I'll see if I've got some time. I play with the expansion though so you're gonna ahve to buy it if you want a tour from me....

What character are you thinking of playing? I bet you can get some more specific tips with that info too.
Be sure to check out all the options by typing /help in a channel (chat room) - it helps guide you and shows you the commans at your finger tips, very useful. Id make my own channel just so you don't have to fight other ppls talk to read what it tells you

I really recommend you to get the expansion, the game is so much better with that, and an entire new chapter as well as two character classes and lots of items, are added. So get LoD, and connect to battle.net!
I am not at MSN, but I sometimes use icq, so if you wish a tour I could PM you my icq number and give you a tour if we can agree on some suitable time point! Silur and Dottie from this board also plays, so they could also help you to start out. We are all at Europe.
